Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Kolkata

    Arrival at Kolkata. Transferred to Your Pre Booked Hotel. Take Rest. Afternoon visit to Mother Theresa House. Walk thru the Small Lanes of City or Joy to have a first hand impression of Kolkata town.

    Overnight at Kolkata.

  • Day 2 : Kolkata

    Breakfast and British city of Kolkata visits the colony as: Victoria Memorial, Mother Teresa House, Jain Temple, the fortress of William, Bithin Planetarium, Nicks Mandir (the temple of Birla), Howrah Bridge & Kali Ghat Temple.

    Victoria Memorial: The monument of Victoria Memorial is a fascinating piece of modern architecture and it has been turned into Museum from the independence of the India and posse the most fantastic architectural treasures of the epoch of the British Empire .El monument was done in white marble of Jodhpur.

    Howrah Bridge: An example of the skills of more wonderful engineering the bridge that has 450 meters long and hangs without any tower that the supports .Es also one of the most journeyed bridges of the India and of the world along which more than 100000 daily vehicles go along every day.

    Kalighat Temple: This Kali Temple on Ganges in the heart of the City attracts many piligrims all over the World.

  • Day 3 : Kolkata - Belur - Serampore - Chandannagar - Kolkata

    Belur Math, sprawling over forty acres of land on the western bank of the Hooghly (Ganga), in Howrah district, an hour's drive from Kolkata, is a place of pilgrimage for people from all over the world professing different religious faiths. Even people not interested in religion come here for the peace it exudes. Built in the traditional 'Nava-ratna' or nine spires style of Bengal Architecture, the three-storied south-facing temple has nine spires distributed in upper two storey, and stands on a high platform with a flight of stairs, over all it measures 46 feet (14 m) square and rises over 100 feet (30 m) high. The Dakshineswar Kali Temple was founded around the middle of the 19th Century by Rani Rashmoni, who belonged to Kalivarta Caste & was well known for her Philanthropic activities.

    Unlike the rest of India which had been a British colony for two hundred years, Chandannagar was ruled by France. So she had an interesting history and Identity which had fascinated the historians throughout the world. Chandan Nagar Strand, Museum, Church, Underground House (Patal Bari) & Hindu Temple built in 1740 are the places to visit here.

  • Day 4 : Kolkata - Shantiniketan - 225kms/5hrs drive

    Drive to Shantiniketan. Afternoon visit the University Campus, Museum & Open Air Classes. Even now one can experience the atmosphere of the Open Air Learning system at this Vishwabharati University, founded by Great Laureate Ravindranath Tagore.

    Museum is Half day open on Tuesday and closed on Wednesday.

    Overnight at Shantiniketan.

  • Day 5 : Shantiniketan - Bishnunpur - 130kms/3hrs drive

    Morning visit of the Boul Singers Village near by 0600hrs & enjoy the Song Live in their village. They are also very well known for their Folk Dance. Back to the Hotel & drive to Bishnupur after breakfast. Drive to Bishnupur. Visit the Baluchari Saree Weavers at their village. Overnight at Bishnupur.

  • Day 6 : Bishnupur - Kharagpur (100kms/2hrs) - Cuttack (By train) - Dhenkanal 55kms/1hrs drive

    Visit of the Famous Terracotta Temples at Bishnupur. Drive to Kharagpur Station. Board the train for Odisha. Arrival at Cuttack Station. Drive to Dhenkanal, a small Royal Town where you can visit the Unique Ashram of the Mahima Alekh Cult, Weavers, Tribal Groups & Many More. Be the Guest of the Royal Family & overnight stay at the Palace of Dhenkanal.

    Overnight stay at Dhenkanal Palace.

  • Day 7 : Dhenkanal

    Visit to the Weavers at Nuapatna & Dokra Metal Workers of Sadei Barini.

    Interact with the Craft people of Odisha & spend the time in their nice villages.

    Back to the Palace for Lunch.

    Evening drive to Joranda Ashram where the Sadhus of the Mahima Alekh Cult perform Rituals during evening time. Back to the Palace.

    Overnight at Dhenkanal.

  • Day 8 : Dhenkanal - Ratnagiri/Lalitgiri/Udaigiri (Buddhist Triangle) - Bhubaneshwar

    After Braeakfast leave for the Buddhist Triangle of Odisha. Later on drive to Bhubaneshwar.

    These three hills and their environs comprise a remarkable Buddhist complex. Hiuen T'sang. The Chinese Pilgrim found it to be the seat of a flourishing Buddhist University called Puspagiri. Extensive ruins of brick pagodas, sculptured stone portals and esoteric Buddhist images testifying is ancient glory, have been unearthed. Ratnagiri is the gem of this complex. The magnificently carved door jamb of the Vihar and the superbly finished Buddha images form perhaps the greatest concentration o the post-Gupta period Buddhist sculptures. Udaigiri is still under Excavation & interesting Stupas, Temple & Deep Well tells the story of the Monks & Students living here in 10th Century AD.

    Overnight at Bhubaneshwar.

  • Day 9 : Bhubaneshwar

    Visit of Temples & Caves of Bhubaneshwar.

    Bhubaneshwar is the Temple City of India, once upon a time holding 7000 temples around the city. Now with 500 temples from the period of 05th to 11th Century AD, this Capital of Odisha is visited by many tourist from different parts of India & Abroad. Among all the Temples, Important Temples visited are Chronologically in Order Parasurameshwar, Mukteshwar, Rajarani, Brahmeshwar, Vaital & Lingaraj Temples. These Temples belonging to different period of construction reflecting different changes in the plan & 11th Century Lingaraj Temples is the Culmination point of the Temple Construction at Bhubaneshwar with the complete collection of all the Four Halls of Odiya Architecture Style. Khandagiri & Udaigiri Jain Caves, dating back from 03rd to 01st century BC are telling the royal, social & cultural life of the King & the People of Kalinga. Out of 92 Caves, there are caves dedicated to the Jain Monks, Hindu Deities & the Queens Cave depicting the story of Royal Celebration at the Caves are worth visit.

  • Day 10 : Bhubaneshwar - Konark - Puri - 120kms/3.30hrs drive

    Drive to Puri on the way visting Konark.

    Sun Temple of Konark is one of the Heritage Sites of India is the Culmination of Odiya Architecture. Described by Poet Rabindranath Tagore, The Language of Stones have defeated the Language of Human Being is Well Defined on the Temple Wall of Konark Sun Temple. Built in a form of Chariot, this Temple has attracted the Tourist from all over the World for the Stone Work Style & Description.

    Puri is One of the Four Dhams of Hindu people, which is believed to be like Mecca for Muslims. As this Place known as Sankha Khetra & the Temple Idols represent all the Three Concepts of Hinduism, Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva, One Hindu can come to this Place to complete the Pilgrimage in case not able to visit the All Four Dhams in Four Corners of India. Jagannath Temple is allowed for Hindus only. We will use the Platform (Closed on Sunday & Local Holidays) in front of the Temple to watch the activities partially inside the temple. Every Year, during June/July the Grand Chariot Festival of the Temple Attracts around One Million People around the World to this place.

  • Day 11 : Puri - Bhubaneshwar (70kms/1.30hrs) - Rayagada by Overnight Train

    Sight Seeing of Puri visiting Jagannath Temple, Potters village, who supply the Pots to the Jagannath Temple Kitchen known as the Biggest Kitchen of the World, Grand Trunk Road area.

    Drive to Bhubaneshwar & Board the train with Packed Dinner. Train leaves at 1930hrs.

  • Day 12 : Rayagada - Jhigidi Village - Must B a Sunday

    Drive to Jhigidi Village Camp. Jhigidi village is the village of the Jewelers of the Kondh Group. Check in to the Swiss Tented Camp. Walk around the village in the afternoon. You can interact with the Jewelers & watch them working on different items on Loss Wax Processing system.

    Overnight at Jhigidi Village Adivasi Village Retreat.

  • Day 13 : Jhigidi - Langia Saura Group at Puttasingh area - Jhigidi - 90kms/2hrs drive

    Visit to the Langia Saura Villages & their Weekly market at Puttasingh area. Langia Saura group is one of the most Primitive groups of the Sauras living in this area. They live in the hill slope & earn their livelihood from the Shifted cultivation. They are known for their peculiar cloth with long tail at the Back side & the Women use the Biggest Wooden Plates in their Ear Lobe.

    Back to the Camp for Overnight Stay.

    Overnight at Nature Camp, Jhigidi Village.

  • Day 14 : Jhigidi - Kutia Kondh Village - Jhigidi Village Camp - 60kms/2hrs drive

    Excursion to the Tattoo Faced Kutia Kondh villages in Kotgarh & Tumudibandh area. This day excursion will introduce you to the Kutia Kondh of Phulbani District believe in making Tattoos on the face of women depending upon which clan they belong to. So that they can be recognised by their dead ancestors. Kutia Kondh is one of the Primitive Groups of Kondh society live in Phulbani & Kondhamal District. The name derives from the word KUTIA. Kutia means Thatch Roof Houses looks like a whole as per Local language. Kutia means the people who makes the Tatoos on the Body & the technic of making Tattoos is called KUT locally. The women makes these tattoos of Floral & Geometrical style depending upon the clan they belong to. The belief of making these tattoos to be recognised by their men in the society, which still survives after death. Overnight at Nature Camp Jhigidi Village, Bissam Cuttack.

  • Day 15 : Jhigidi - Dongariya Kondh Village - Similiguda - 200kms/4rs drive

    Visit of Dongariya Kondh Weekly market.

    Remote Villages of the Niyamagiri Hill Range, this Dongariya Kondh Group is another Primitive group living in Kondhamal District. Once upon a time this group was known for the Maria (HUMAN) Sacrifice. For the Good Crops, they were sacrificing Human being which was stopped before independence by the British Govt.. The men & women of this society decorate themselves in the same way & only difference of the jeweleries is the Nose ring, which are Two in Numbers with the Boys & Three for Girls. The Name Dongariya derives from the Local name of Dongar means Hill slope. This group live on the Hill slope as well as cultivate these slopes & produce varieties of Fruits & Vegetables as well as herbs used for the Medicine.

    Continue the drive to Similiguda. Check in to hotel.

  • Day 16 : Similiguda - Bonda Market - Similiguda - 100kms/2hrs drive

    Visit of the weekly Market of Bonda, Gadhaba, Didayee Groups.

    Bondo or Bonda are considered to the Most Primitive Group of all the Tribes of South Odisha. They are very similar to look alike the Tribes of South Africa. Covered with Bids the women still believe that covering the body with cloth is a curse to their family & village.

    Gadhaba or Gadhaba are believed to the Ancestors of Bondo Group who came down the Hills & out of Jungle & settled themselves in the plain land of Koraput in South Orissa. The Main Subdivision is Bara Gadhaba and Sana Gadhaba. But there are many more Gadhaba groups in their society. The Women of this Group use Heavy Silver Neck rings after marriage which is about a kilo of weight & removed only after death by the blacksmith & goes to the First Daughter in law of the house. Now a days due to the Influence of Modern society & their mingling with the common society & job out of their village has forced them to change their Traditional Costume. Still in the remote villages One can find the people practicing the Age Old Rituals.

  • Day 17 : Similiguda - Paraja Village - Salur Valley - Vishakhapatnam 150kms/4-5hrs drive - Kolkata (By Evenin

    Visit of Paraja Villages & their weekly market. Drive to Vishakhapatnam.

    Paraja is derived from Praja which means the Inhabitants under the control of a King of the people of the country/villages. These people are very colorful by their costume & hard working. They work on the fields, roads & grow varieties of vegetables & sell them in the market & live a good life compare to the other Tribes of Orissa. They still practice a strong Social Rituals & worship their Ancestral Gods & Goddess as well as the Nature.
