Enchanting Ladakh Tour with Nubra Valley & Pangong Lake

Upon arrival at Leh Airport, you will be warmly received and transferred to the hotel. After check-in, enjoy a welcome drink and take complete rest to acclimatize to the high altitude of Leh (approx. 3,500 meters). In the late afternoon, proceed for a short orientation walk through the local market, followed by visits to Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Leh.

After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion to Sham Valley, driving downstream along the Indus River on the Leh–Kargil Highway. Begin the sightseeing with a visit to the Hall of Fame, a museum constructed by the Indian Army that showcases the history, bravery, and sacrifices of Indian soldiers in Ladakh.

Continue the drive to Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, located at an altitude of about 3,600 meters, built in memory of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Further ahead, visit the famous Magnetic Hill, a natural wonder where vehicles appear to move uphill against gravity.

Next, visit the scenic Sangam Point near Nimmu village, where the Indus River flowing from Tibet meets the Zanskar River from the Zanskar Valley. Proceed further to Alchi Monastery, one of the most celebrated monasteries of Ladakh, dating back to the 11th century and renowned for its ancient wall paintings and unique architecture.

Later, visit Likir Monastery, originally built in the 11th century and rebuilt in the 18th century, which houses a magnificent 25-feet tall gold-covered statue of Lord Buddha. After completing the sightseeing, drive back to Leh by evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.

After an early breakfast, proceed on a scenic drive from Leh to Nubra Valley. The journey takes you across Khardung La Pass (18,390 ft / 5,602 m), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. From the pass, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Indus Valley to the south and the mighty peaks of the Zanskar Range, while to the north you can witness the towering Saser Massif.

Continue the descent into Nubra Valley, popularly known as Ldumra, meaning the Valley of Flowers. Located between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges, Nubra Valley lies at an average altitude of about 10,000 feet above sea level and is known for its fertile landscapes, sand dunes, and contrasting scenery.

Upon arrival, check in at your camp or hotel in Hunder. After some rest, you may take a leisurely walk around the nearby villages to observe the local lifestyle and culture of this remote Himalayan region. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp/hotel in Nubra Valley.

After an early breakfast, check out from the camp/hotel and proceed to Hunder Sand Dunes, where you can enjoy an optional ride on the unique double-humped Bactrian camel amidst the cold desert landscape, with snow-capped mountains forming a stunning backdrop.

Later, visit Diskit, the headquarters of Nubra Valley, and spend some time exploring the local market and observing the daily life of the local people. Continue the journey towards Pangong Lake via the adventurous Agham and Shyok Valley route, known for its rugged terrain, river crossings, and spectacular mountain scenery.

Although some stretches of this route are challenging, the journey is extremely scenic and rewarding. Pass through small villages of the Changthang region before arriving at the breathtaking Pangong Lake, situated at an altitude of approximately 14,000 feet (4,267 meters). Later, drive back to Leh via Chang La Pass (17,590 ft / 5,486 m), one of the highest mountains passes in the world. En route, visit Hemis Monastery, the largest monastic foundation of the Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism. Continue to Thiksey Monastery, an impressive multi-tiered complex perched on a hill, often compared to the Potala Palace of Lhasa.

Proceed further to Shey Palace, the ancient capital of Ladakh, and visit the famous Rancho School (3 Idiots School). After completing the sightseeing, drive to Leh. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
