Exploring Kargil & Drass Tour

Arrive at Kushok Bakula airport Leh situated at 3500m altitude, met by our representative at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Leh city 3 to 4 km. On arrival at the hotel welcome drink and then procced to your rooms and take fullday at rest to acclimatize yourself completely to the high altitudes of Ladakh which is must. Evening easy walk to Leh bazaar. Overnight at the Hotel.

Today we shall take you for a Fullday tour of some of the most important and beautiful Monasteries and Palaces on the Indus Valley along driving along River Indus. You shall visit the former summer Palace of the kings of Ladakh i.e. Shey Palace, mini potala like Monastery in Ladakh i.e. Thiksey Monastery which also enshrines the most beautiful statue of Maitrey Buddha and later the largest and the richest monastery in Ladakh i.e. Hemis Monastery. Back to Leh by evening and free at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Early breakfast we drive to Mulbekh 190 kms on Leh - Srinagar highway NH1D, enroute visit Magnetic Hill, 1000 year old Alchi murals one of the 7 wonders in India, later visit lunar-like landscapes near Lamayuru. Arrive Mulbekh by evening and check-in at the Deluxe Camp. Later walk to see the huge rock-cut statue of Maitreya Buddha at Mulbekh-the "Bamiyan of India".

Early breakfast and drive straight to Drass via Kargil 98km. On arrival in Drass - the second coldest inhabited place in the world where you will visit the "Vijay Memorial" or the "Drass War Memorial" a beautiful memorial of the hero's of Kargil war and later photo view of the infamous Tiger Hill. Lunch at Drass and later drive back to Kargil 60km for overnight stay at the Hotel.

Leisure breakfast and then drive back towards Leh 180kms, on the way we visit the picturesque village of Likir where we put-up for the night stay at the lovely Lukhil hotel in the midst of paddy fields and a lovely village setting.

Morning after relaxed breakfast drive back to Leh 55 kms. Arrive Leh and rest of the day free at leisure, members are free to do shopping and walk around the small curios markets of Leh town. Interesting walking visits could be Moti market, Tibetan Super market, Ecological centre Crafts shop, Nowshare bazaar street, Leh old town walk below Leh palace etc are some of the interesting spots. Overnight at the hotel.

Early morning fullday excursion to Pangong Lake 135 km / 4400m east of Leh crossing Changla Pass 17500ft and driving via Durbuk and Tangtse villages in the Changthang region of Ladakh and perhaps one of the most amazing lakes in Asia which changes its color 4 - 5 times a day. Overnight at the hotel.

Drive on the Nubra Valley highway to visit Khardongla pass 40km at 18380 ft-the world highest motorable pass which is a wonderful sight. Overnight at the hotel.
