Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Ahmedabad - Modhera-Patan - Little Rann Of Kutch

(Ahmedabad -Modhera (103 kms/ 3 Hrs), Modhera -Patan (38 kms 45min)., Patan -Little Rann Of Kutch (75 kms / 2 Hrs) We drive to Bajana (Little Rann Of Kutch) en route visiting Modhera & Patan. Modhera: The Sun temple of Modhera is one of the finest examples of Indian architecture of its period. Built in 1026 A.D. the temple is dedicated to the Sun-God, Surya and stands high on a plinth overlooking a deep stone-steeped tank. Sun Temple of Modhera was built by King Bhimdev I (1026-27) and bears some resemblance to the later and far better known, Sun Temple of Konark in the state of Orissa, which it predates by some 200 years. The main hall and shrine are reached through a pillared porch and the temple exterior is intricately and delicately carved. Patan was an ancient Hindu Capital. Now a pale shadow of its former self, it still has more than 100 Jain Temples and is famous for its beautifully designed Patola silk saris. Dinner & Overnight stay in Hotel at Dasada/Bajana.

Day 2 : Little Rann Of Kutch

A jeep safari will take you to the Little Rann of Kutch to see the rare species of the ‘Indian Wild Ass’. The Little Rann Kutch is a depression that during the rainy season is first invaded by salt water and then the Indian Ocean and fresh water of the rains, becoming a pescosissima area of brackish water. In the Little Rann it has focused Agaryas ethnicity, dedicated to the extraction of salt from the desert during the period that goes from the end of the monsoon in early summer, then from October to April. Visit the nearby villages to see the local tribes such as Rabari, Koli and Bajania still maintaining their rich heritage of lifestyle clothes, jewelery and dances. Their embroidery is exquisite. Day 3 : Little Rann Of Kutch – Mandvi (280 Kms/ 6 Hrs)

Mandvi is located on the banks of the Rukmavati river, barely one km away from the Arabian Sea at the Gulf of Kutch. The town has a very pleasant climate throughout the year and was a summer retreat of the Kutch Maharaos. The center of attraction at Mandvi is the Vijay Vilas Palace, a royal abode set in the middle of well-laid gardens with water channels and marble fountains. The architect and craftsmen from Jaipur designed and constructed the palace in 1920 AD. This is an example of the traditional skill of craftsmen of early 20th century. The Vijay Vilas Palace has its own private beach, maintained in an eco-friendly manner to preserve its pristine beauty. For these reasons, this palace has been used as the setting in many Hindi films and has now become a popular tourist destination. Dinner & Overnight stay in Hotel at Mandvi.
Day 4 : Mandvi Sightseeing

This is the important place for the Jains which is almost 51 kms away from Bhuj. It has 72 Deris of Lord Mahavir. People always come to see this beautiful and attractive place. BounterJinalaya is also known as AdiswarBounterJinalayaMahatirth. It is situated on the Mundra-Mandvi Road about 9 kms away from the central town of Mandvi. It is spread out in almost 80 acre areas. It is built in the memory of Gun Sagar Suriswarji Maharaj. The construction of this Jinalaya began in 1982, but it is still in an unfinished phase and it still needs many more years for his completion.72 Jinalayas are built in an octagonal shape. BounterJinalaya is also called Gunnagar in the loving memory of PujyaAcharyabhagawant. This Jinalaya will be proven as a Milestone for our future generation. Dinner & Overnight stay at Mandvi.
Day 5 : Mandvi - Bhuj (65Kms/ 2 Hrs)

After breakfast drive to Bhuj en route visiting Bhujodi village. A small town just 8 km southeast of Bhuj, Bhujodi is a major textile center of Kutch, with the vast majority of the 1200 inhabitants involved in textile handicraft production. Here you can meet weavers, tie-dye artists and block printers, most of whom belong to the Vankar community. Many will let you watch them work; just ask around. About a kilometer from Bhujodi is the Ashapura Crafts Park, set up by a corporate non-profit wing to help artisans display and sell their work. Shrujan is a local non-profit set up 40 years ago. Shrujan campus is an interesting place to visit, with embroidery exhibits, a production center and excellent examples of local architecture with environmental awareness in mind. Check in at Hotel. Day 6 : Bhuj Sightseeing

Full day excursion to Banni villages (North Bhuj)

Amidst the Desert land of infinite dimensions, are suspended, quaint little villages. These are the last villages on the India-Pakistan border. Here you will come across master craft people' exposing their traditional art, turning our master pieces every day. Their ornaments, clothes, utensils, everything they use - will make you feel as if you have stepped into lifestyle museum leaving you spellbound. Dinner & Overnight stay at Bhuj.
Day 7 : Bhuj – Dholavira – Bhuj (250 Kms / 5 Hrs)

Today we do an excursion visit to Dholavira. Of all the Harappan sites the site of Dholavira locally known as Kotada, in the Khadir island of Kutch, stands apart. It is remarkable for its magnificent planning and enormity of area and deposit. Dholavira presents a Harappan city par excellence, measures about 600m on the north-south axis and 775m. on the east-west. Inside the general fortification, there are three distinct complexes-An acropolis, a middle town and a lower town. In addition, the acropolis and the middle town had been further furnished with their own a pertinent defense-work, gateways, built-up areas, street-system, wells and large open spaces. The city within the general fortification accounts for 48 hectares. If put together, the total areas goes well beyond 100 hectares in expanse. Dinner & Overnight stay at Bhuj.
Day 8 : Depart Bhuj - Mumbai
