It consists of an arid plateau in the east, irrigated by oasis and seasonal water streams, with highland area in the west of arable land and Mediterranean evergreen forestry. The Jordan Rift Valley of the Jordan River separates Jordan from Israel and the Palestinian Territories. The highest point in the country is Jabal Umm al Dami, at 1,854 m (6,083 ft) above sea level; its top is also covered with snow, while the lowest is the Dead Sea −420 m (−1,378 ft). Jordan is part of a region considered to be "The Cradle of Civilization", the Levant Region of the Fertile Crescent. Major cities include the capital Amman and Salt in the west, Irbid, Jerash and Zarqa, in the northwest and Madaba, Karak and Aqaba in the southwest. After breakfast drive to Ancient Jerash, one of the best preserved Roman cities in the Middle East. On arrival, tour the ruins with a local guide, and then drive through the attractive olive strewn countryside to Rassoun village for a home cooked Jordanian lunch. This afternoon visit the photogenic castle of Ajlun which was built by Saladin’s cousin Izz ad-Din Usama in the late 12th century. Overnight stay in Hotel at Amman.

After breakfast Set off south for Petra along the Kings Highway, a scenic and ancient road connecting Amman with the Red Sea coast. This is one of the world’s longest used trading routes and passes through the biblical lands of the Ammonites, Moabites and Edomites. En route stop at Mt. Nebo, from where Moses first saw the Promised Land; the Ottoman town of Madaba noted for its Byzantine mosaics; and huge Crusader and Mamluk castle of Kerak. Overnight stay In hotel at Petra.

After breakfast start the day with a privately guided tour of ancient Petra lasting between 2 to 3 hours. The site is approached via the Siq, a dramatic narrow gorge of striking beauty hemmed in by cliffs up to 80 metres in height. After 1.5 kilometres the stunning edifice of the Treasury (El Khazneh) emerges dramatically through a narrow gap. Further on the intricately carved Royal Tombs, Street of the Facades, High Place of Sacrifice, Qasr al Bint and the enormous Monastery (El Deir) all wait to be discovered. A buffet lunch will be provided within the site. The afternoon is free to continuing exploring Petra independently. This evening experience the unforgettable spectacle of Petra by Candlelight (operates Mon, Wed, Thu only) when the Siq and forecourt of the Treasury are bathed in the soft flickering light of thousands of candles.
