Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrive in Srinagar and Local Exploration.

  Arrive at Srinagar Airport, the summer capital of Kashmir. Transfer to a houseboat on Dal Lake for a unique stay. Spend the afternoon exploring the Mughal Gardens (Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh) and take a famous Shikara ride on Dal Lake, soaking in the serene Kashmiri culture and preparing for the high-altitude journey ahead.

• Day 2 : Drive from Srinagar to Kargil via Sonamarg & Zoji La Pass (approx. 8-9 hours).

  An early start for the long drive. The route passes through the beautiful meadow of Sonamarg before the difficult ascent and crossing of the high-altitude Zoji La Pass (3528m), which connects Kashmir to Ladakh. The terrain changes dramatically from green to brown before reaching Kargil, a historically important town.

• Day 3 : Kargil to Leh via Fotu La & Lamayuru (approx. 7-8 hours).

  The drive today is filled with famous landmarks. Stop at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass (optional detour). Cross Fotu La (4108m) and Namika La (3700m) passes. Visit the ancient Lamayuru Monastery (Moonland), one of Ladakh's oldest, and see the Indus-Zanskar Confluence before reaching Leh for the night.

• Day 4 : Leh: High-Altitude Acclimatization and Local Monasteries.

  Spend the day slowly acclimatizing to the 3500m altitude of Leh. Visit the iconic Buddhist monasteries near Leh: Thiksey Monastery, known for its resemblance to the Potala Palace, and the quieter Shey Palace. In the evening, visit the Shanti Stupa for a spectacular sunset view over the Leh valley.

• Day 5 : Drive from Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La (approx. 5-6 hours).

  Drive over the famous Khardung La Pass (5359m), which provides stunning panoramic views of the Zanskar Range. The long descent leads into the Nubra Valley. Visit the Diskit Monastery, famous for its enormous Buddha statue, and enjoy a unique double-humped camel safari in the high-altitude sand dunes of Hunder.

• Day 6 : Drive from Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso Lake (approx. 7-8 hours).

  An exciting, remote drive that bypasses Leh, often via the scenic Shyok route (road conditions permitting). This route winds through valleys and mountains, eventually bringing you to the breathtaking Pangong Tso Lake, famous for its changing shades of blue. Camp overnight right near the lake shore in the nomadic Changthang region.

• Day 7 : Drive from Pangong Tso Lake to Leh via Chang La Pass and Departure (approx. 8-9 hours).

  Witness the spectacular sunrise over Pangong Tso. Drive back to Leh, crossing the formidable Chang La Pass (5360m). Upon reaching Leh, proceed directly to the airport for your flight, concluding the epic high-altitude road journey spanning both Kashmir and Ladakh.
