Starting from Chennai it goes to Kovalam taking the tourist circuit of Kanchipuram, Mahabalipuram, Pondicherry, Chidambram, Tanjore, Trichy, Madurai, Thekkady, Kerala Backwaters, Kochi and ending with 03 nights at Kovalam. This tour can be modified as per your taste.
Day 1 : Arrive Chennai
On arrival at Chennai, the capital of Tamilnadu and the thriving metropolis. On arrival you will be greeted and transfered you to your hotel. If you arrive before 1300 Hrs you can have a short Chennai city tour covering Marina Beach, St George Fort, Museum etc., Overnight at Chennai.
Day 2 : Chennai-Kanchipuram-Mahabalipuram
After breakfast visit Kapalaeaswara temple at Mylapore and drive onward to Kanchipuram, one of the seven holiest cities in India which is rightly called as city of thousand temples. The sightseeing tour takes you to important temples like Kamatchi Amman temple, Kailasanathar temple and Ekambareshwar temple (Where Lord Shiva is worshipped as Land), the temples which are storehouse of ancient architecture and sculptures. Kanchipuram is equally famous for its silk sarees and you have some time check on the same before driving to Mahabalipuram. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Mahabalipuram.
Day 3 : Mahabalipuram-Pondicherry
After breakfast Mahabalipuram sightseeing showcases the architectural wonders of this town which was once a thriving port during the rule of Pallava dynasty. The tour of this UNESCO site takes you to important monuments like Pancha Pandava Rathas, Arjuna's Penance, Cave temples and sea shore temple etc.. Later drive onward to Pondicherry - Once a French colony which retains the old age charm even now. Overnight at Pondicherry
Day 4 : Pondicherry Sightseeing
After breakfast the sightseeing tour takes you to Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Manakula Vinayagar temple, Park Monument, Notre Dame Church, Sacred Heart church, Dupleix Statue etc., Afternoon go on a short excursion to Auroville-An international township devoted to the experiment in human unity. Evening stroll around the beach promenade and may be you can also have a dinner in local French Restaurant. Overnight in Pondicherry
Day 5 : Pondicherry - Chidambaram- Gangaikonda Cholapuram- Darasuram- Tanjore
After early breakfast drive to Chidambaram where Lord Shiva is worshipped as sky and the temple which is inseparable from worship, architecture, sculpture and performing arts of Tamilnadu for over two millennia. Later drive to Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple which is famous for its architectural and sculptural genius. For example the shadow of the Kalasam at top never falls on the ground at any time of the day, sunlight which falls on the nadhi gets reflected onto Linga thus keeping temple bright even when lights are not there. Later we continue our journey to Darasuram Airavatheshwara Temple which is the store house of ancient art and architecture and a UNESCO site. Later we retire for the day at Tanjore. Overnight at Tanjore.
Day 6 : Tanjore - Trichy- Madurai
After a leisurely breakfast we visit Tanjore Brahadeswara temple (commonly called as Big Temple) which is an outstanding architectural marvel where you can wonder at the engineering skills that existed 1000 years back. Later we visit art gallery and museum before driving down to Trichirapalli an ancient city. In Trichirapalli, we visit ancient Sri Rangam temple and Rock fort temple before heading to Madurai, the temple city which has the history of over 2500 Years for overnight stay. Overnight in Madurai.
Day 7 : Madurai
After leisurely breakfast the sightseeing tour takes you to places like Thiru Malai Nayak Palace, Gandhi Memorial Museum, St Mary's Cathedral, etc., May be you can even take a Rickshaw ride near the temple. Evening we visit Sri Meenakshi Amman Temple, which is world famous for its architectural and spiritual Magnificence. Enjoy the beauty of various gopurams which has thousands of stone figures of animals, gods and demons, halls with various sculptures and various shrines dedicated to different deities. Later you can witness the temple ceremony. May be late in the evening you can go out for dinner and check-out local delicacies. Overnight in Madurai.
Day 8 : Madurai-Thekkady
After leisurely breakfast drive to Thekkady - the dream destination set in midst of cardamom and spice plantations. The forests around adds up to the charm. Afternoon sightseeing takes you on a plantation tour to have glimpses of how spices are grown. Rest of the day is at leisure to walk around and explore the streets and markets of this lively town which is famous for its spices. May be you can try a optional elephant ride or bullock cart ride from a nearby place on direct payment basis. Overnight at Thekkady.
Day 9 : Thekkady-Kumarakom (140 Kms, 4 Hrs)
Early morning go on a game viewing boat ride where you stand a chance to spot elephants & other wild animals.(Boating on direct payment and subject to operation. Guest to joing queue for tickets.) Later after breakfast drive down the hills enjoying lovely view of the green mountains, passing clouds, pristine valleys and little villages dotted with churches and temples to reach Kumarakom-an exotic destination located on the banks of picture perfect Vemband lake.. After check-in the day is at leisure to relax in the comfort of your resort. Overnight in Kumarakom.
Day 10 : Kumarakom
After breakfast day is free at leisure to enjoy the facilities at the resort. Alternatively by paying direct at Hotel you can avail some OPTIONAL activities like Ayurveda Massage, Motor Canoe Cruise, Village Walk etc., Evening Sunset Cruise if provided by the hotel. Overnight in Kumarakom
Day 11 : Kumarakom-Kochi
After breakfast drive to Kochi. Afternoon city tour takes you through major landmarks like St. Francis Church, Chinese Fishing nets, Jewish Synagogue (Closed on Fri, Sat), Dutch Palace (Closed on Fri) etc. Afternoon is at leisure. Evening you watch a Kathakali show, a traditional dance drama of Kerala where artists take various roles from famous Indian epics and perform in a theatre presentation. Overnight in Kochi.
Day 12 : Kochi-Alleppey-Kovalam
After breakfast, drive down to Alleppey famously called as Venice of the East. Have two hours small boat ride to enjoy the narrow canals and the surrounding village life. (This boat ride need not be given if you take houseboat in the program]. Later drive down (170 Kms, 4 Hrs) to Kovalam- a exotic beach destination famous for its palm fringed bays and it's tropical beauty. Rest of day free to unwind completely and enjoy the serenity of the beach. Overnight at Kovalam.
Day 13 : At Kovalam. Trivandrum Sightseeing.
After breakfast you have a sightseeing tour of Trivandrum covering places like to Sri Padmanabha Swamy Temple (Non Hindus not permitted inside), Temple Museum and the city museum complex which houses the Sri Chitra Art Gallery and, Napier Museum (Complex closed on Fri). Later drive back to Kovalam. The afternoon is at leisure to relax by beach side listening to the rhythms of waves and wondering at the magic of Arabian Sea playing a symphony. Overnight at Kovalam
Day 14 : At Kovalam Optional Excursion to Kanyakumari
After breakfast day is free to unwind and enjoy the tranquillity of the Arabian sea. May be you can have dip in the sea or walk and check out the souvenir shops or avail some OPTIONAL activities like Ayurvedic Massage from the resort. Alternatively you can go on a OPTIONAL FULL DAY EXCURSION to Kanyakumari. The excursion will initially take you to Padamanabhapuram Palace and later drive you to Kanyakumari where you see the wax museum, Vivekanada Rock, Huge Thirivalluvar Statue etc., Later in the evening you watch the beautiful sunset at the Southern tip of India where three great oceans meet and return back to Kovalam. Overnight in Kovalam
Day 15 : Kovalam Departure
After breakfast you have some free time for last minute photo and packing sessions. By noon we transfer you to TRIVANDRUM airport or rail station for your return journey. We sincerely believe that you will go back with lovely memories and happy moments.
