Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Drive from Shimla to Sarahan (approx. 6-7 hours).

  Start the journey from Shimla towards the Kinnaur region. The drive is scenic, winding along the Sutlej River valley. Sarahan is famous for the stunning, traditionally built Bhimakali Temple, a major religious and architectural landmark known for its unique blending of Hindu and Buddhist styles. Check into your accommodation and explore the temple complex.

• Day 2 : Drive from Sarahan to Sangla Valley (approx. 4-5 hours).

  Continue the journey deeper into Kinnaur, driving through the dramatic cliffside roads. The valley opens up into the breathtaking Sangla Valley, known for its towering forests and apple orchards. Check into a hotel or camp in Sangla and spend the afternoon visiting the ancient Kamru Fort, a towering wooden structure offering great views.

• Day 3 : Sangla to Chitkul Exploration and drive to Kalpa (approx. 4 hours drive total).

  Drive to Chitkul, the last village near the Indo-Tibet border, famous for its unique architecture and pristine beauty. Spend time by the Baspa River. Later, drive back and ascend to Kalpa, renowned for its spectacular, up-close views of the sacred Kinnaur Kailash mountain.

• Day 4 : Kalpa to Nako and Tabo (Spiti Gateway) (approx. 6 hours).

  Enjoy the sunrise over the Kinnaur Kailash peaks. Drive along the spectacular, terrifying cliffside roads to Nako Village, situated around a small lake, marking the boundary of the Spiti region. Continue to Tabo, a tranquil village famous for the Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site known as the "Ajanta of the Himalayas" for its ancient murals.

• Day 5 : Drive from Tabo to Shimla (approx. 10-12 hours).

  This is a very long but rewarding drive, retracing a significant portion of the route. The journey offers continuous, changing views of the Sutlej River as it carves through the mountains. Breaking the journey at a point like Rampur (optional) is recommended, but the plan involves reaching the outskirts of Shimla, savoring the diverse landscapes one last time.

• Day 6 : Departure from Shimla.

  Enjoy a leisurely morning in Shimla. Spend time shopping for souvenirs, eating local Himachali cuisine, or visiting any remaining local attractions near the Mall Road. Transfer to the Shimla Airport or the Kalka Railway Station for your onward journey, concluding the memorable Kinnaur Valley circuit.
