Back then, the Elephanta was the capital of Konkan Mauryas and was called Puri or Purika. The caves today are a UNESCO World Heritage Site Visit to Prince of Wales Museum, also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya.
