Merak Sakten Trek Tour

Our representatives from Travel Madness will be waiting for you at the Guwahati Domestic Airport, India. After short introduction of tour guide and driver you will transferred to border town of Bhutan which is 3 hours drive from the airport. Before we check into our pre-booked hotel, complete immigration formalities at Indo Bhutan border will be fulfilled. This evening will be spent in leisure or explore the town on your own.

After breakfast, we will drive uphill towards Rangjung which is surrounded by beautiful valleys and driving distance would be 7 ½ hours. On the way lunch will be served as hot packed lunch. After lunch we will then continue on our journey to Rangjung. On reaching Rangjung, we will check into a hotel. Spend the evening at leisure.

After breakfast our car will drop us till the road point at Chaling, where our horses and cook will be waiting for us before trek starts. The trek is short for the day and it will take about 4hours to reach to our camp site.

After our breakfast, we will start our trek to Merak valley. A hot packed lunch will be provided on the way. We shall then continue our trek to Merak, where the houses are crowed up at a hillside in a altitude of 3400m. In the late afternoon, after reaching the camp, we will explore the Merak village.

On this day we will cross the Nyakchungla pass, which is 4300m. From the pass, we have to descend till we reach to our camp at Meserteng. The trek will take about 5-6 hours time. Lunch will be hot packed lunch. We will then continue our journey to the camp site.

Today will be the very short and easy trek. The trek will just take about 3-4 hours time. Lunch will be provided after we reach at the camp site,Sakteng. After lunch, we will explore the Manirong, Tengma and Pusa village. Evening, we will organize the dance program by the local people. There are chances that the local people may come to see us. This is called ‘Tshogchang’, where they will bring the local alcohol called ‘Ara”.

This day will be marked by exploration of the Sakteng village and Brongmang village. We will also visit Borangtse and Kushu Guru Lhakhang Monastery. Lunch will be served at the Camp or one of the farm houses in Sakteng.

We will trek to Takthi on this particular day. The trek will take about 5-6 hours time duration. Lunch will be served as hot packed lunch. After lunch we’ll be on our trek to the camp.

We’ll have about five hours trekking today and enjoy hot packed lunch on the way. After lunch we’ll continue our trek till Joenkhar. This evening will be spent at leisure.

On this particular day we will trek to Phongmey. The trek is for about 3-4 hours. This trek will end at Phongmey. Our car and driver will be waiting here for us. We will bid goodbye to our trekking staff, horse men and other members. Hot packed lunch will be served at Phongmey. Later drive to Trashigang. We will again spend the evening at leisure.

After breakfast we will take a drive to Trashi Yangtse town which is 58 Kms away. We will then visit to the Chorten Kora (Stupa), Zorig Chusum (Painting School) and on the way back visit the Gomphu Kora. Later in the evening we’ll return back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast we will drive to Samdrup Jongkhar. Enroute to Khaling, we will visit the Khaling weaving center. Here we will see the young girl’s learning how to weave and also see how the the natural dyes are prepared which they use in coloring their textiles. After this visit hot packed lunch will be served. After lunch we’ll go on the onwards journey to Samdrup Jongkhar. In the evening, we will meet with our Indian driver, who will take you to Guwahati Domestic Airport which connects Delhi and Kolkata city.
Your Bhutanese guide and driver will bid you farewell during the dinner time. Or they may do so in the next morning before leaving Bhutan. We wish you a very safe journey and we hope to see you again in Bhutan some day.
