The Oil Palm Festival of Arts & Culture is one of the major cultural events in West New Britain Province, especially around Kimbe. It celebrates the province’s identity as Papua New Guinea’s leading oil palm–producing region while showcasing the rich traditions of the local communities. Purpose of the Festival - Celebrate the oil palm industry, which supports the local economy and many smallholder families. - Promote cultural preservation among different ethnic groups in the province. - Encourage tourism and local business participation. Strengthen unity among communities. Cultural Significance West New Britain is home to diverse groups such as the Nakanai, Baining, and other coastal and island communities. The festival gives each group a platform to display: ●Traditional dress and body decorations Custom dances and rituals ● Local foods and crafts ● Stories and heritage
