One-Day Tour To Listvyanka And Circum-Baikal Railway

ne day trip to Listvyanka village and Circum-Baikal Railway for everybody, who wants to see Lake Baikal and does not have much time for that. We will visit ethnographic and architecture museum of Taltsy, a real Siberian village, gathered from different parts of Baikal region. After that we will take a boat trip to the place where Circum-Baikal Railway was starting historically, touch Shaman Stone to make a wish, discover its legends and stories, drink ice-cold and stunningly clean water right from the lake. After that we will walk though the old tunnel and will visit Circum Baika museum. After crossing the lake back to Listvyanka we will visit wooden Orthodox church, the only one opened for young couples during Soviet Union times. After that we will visit fish and crafts market.
Short Itinerary
9:00 - Departure from Irkutsk city center
We will pick up all tourists from any place in the city and start our tour.
10:00 - Visit open-air wooden architecture museum
Taltsy museum is alive Siberian village of the end of 19th century. It has a school, watermill, real ostrog (wooden kremlin), several yurts and other buildings of the past centuries. All these buildings have their internal expositions, telling the stories, connected with them.
12:30 - Boat trip to Shaman Rock and Port Baikal
We will take a boat ride to the first tunnel of Circum-Baikal Railway through Shaman Stone and Port Baikal village. We discover a history of the most expensive and difficult to construct part of the Transsiberian, touch old cut stones, take a walk along the railway, visit the local museum, and then take a ferry back to Listvyanka.
16:00 - Wooden Ortodox church
Wooden church was built in 19th century by local merchant, and it is open till today.
16:30 - Visit fish and crafts market
We will see how Omul (Baikal Salmon) is smoked.
17:30 - Departure from Listvyanka
We will depart from center of the town.
18:30 - Arrival in Irkutsk
We arrive to Irkutsk and drop off all travelers at their places of stay.
