From Nairobi to Maasai Mara for two nights, then back to Nairobi

Maasai Mara National Reserve. Covering an area of approximately 1,792 square kilometers, with another approximately 500 square kilometers protected in conservancies
The national reserve is located at an elevation of approximately 1,850 meters. The reserve was established in 1961 by the colonial government and is about 280 kilometers from the capital city to the main gate (Sekenani gate). It primarily covers bushy savannas, characterized by gentle hills and streams and rivers that flow into Lake Victoria. The crocodile-infested Mara River, which cuts across the plains of the Maasai Mara and empties its waters into Lake Victoria on the Tanzanian side, is a beautiful and renowned destination, particularly for the annual wildebeest migration between June and October. The Maasai Mara shares the same plains as the Serengeti National Reserve of Tanzania, except for the difference in naming due to political/administrative borders. It is considered a reserve since it is inhabited by the famous and numerous Maasai tribe/community within its borders. The Maasai Mara is also inhabited by a diverse array of fauna that enhances its beauty and uniqueness, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, foxes, jackals, hyenas, pythons, buffaloes, elephants, Coke's hartebeest, Maasai giraffes, impalas, and gazelles.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : From Nairobi to Maasai Mara

  Leave Nairobi at 6.30am for approximately 270kms to Masai Mara National Reserve with a panoramic view of the Great Rift Valley enroute, arriving to the hotel in the Maasai Mara for lunch. Afternoon game drive from 4.00pm to 6.30pm then return to hotel for dinner.

• Day 2 : Maasai Mara National Reserve

  Experience the great migration and iconic savanna landscapes with full-day game drives.
  Leave the hotel after breakfast at 7.30am for a FULL-DAY game drive within the expansive Masai Mara reserve. You will have picnic lunch in the savanna and arrive back to the hotel in the evening for dinner. You can also organize with your guide if you would like to visit the Masai village on that day.

  Leave for Nairobi from Maasai Mara after breakfast to be dropped off at the point of preference, whether at the hotel or airport.
