Drive to Sarahan from Narkanda (5 hrs). Sarahan is the first town in the district of Kinnaur. From the riotous green of sangla valley- filled with orchards of apricots, peaches, apples & chilgoza pine forests, to the magnificent desolation of the hangrang valley, mother nature’s portrait is ever changing in Kinnaur. The land lying on the ancient trade route of India & Tibet, ringed by the majestic mountains of the Himalayan and Dhauladhar range, is the land of plenty. The sparkling streams abound in trout - the anglers’ prize catch. The waters over the centuries chiselled beautiful gorges through this picturesque land & nurtured one of the most unique societies on their banks. In this lush land live the descendants of kinners - the demi gods of the hindu pantheon, whose deeds have been immortalized in ancient epics & the poems of mythology. Drive from Sangla to Tabo. One enters the mystic region of spiti at tabo. Mountain peaks towering at 6000 m, 2500 m deep gorges that seem to touch the core of the earth, rocks & boulders eroded by torrential rivers & high speed winds that blow across the land... An inhospitable land that is a desert... A cold desert. A land on which winter descends with fury, making temperatures dip to bone chilling figures below zero, which turn gushing streams & rivers into solid masses of ice. Connected to Lahul by the 4590 m high Kunzum pass & to Kinnaur by a 117 km long road that touches Sumdo in Spiti & Poari in Kinnaur, Spiti is sparsely populated. Villages are few & far between but in them live simple god-fearing, fun loving people. Visit Tabo gompa. Built 1000 years ago, the gompa is one of the oldest and considered next in importance to the tholing gompa in Tibet. Overnight in Tabo.

Drive from Tabo to Kaza. Visit enroute the Dhankar gompa. The gompa houses a deity of dhayana buddha and a large number of scriptures in the bhoti script. Overnight in Kaza.

Full day excursion of Kye monastery & Kibber village. The Kye gompa situated 14 km from Kaza, possesses priceless tankhas (fabric paintings) and an array of musical instruments. Kibber village situated at an altitude of more than 4000 m is considered to be the highest inhabited village in the world. Overnight in Kaza.

Drive from Kaza to Keylong (8 hrs.). Cross the 4590 m high Kunzum pass to enter Lahul. At Lahul the Himalayas present a different sight. Brown barren slopes, icy rivers and streams that gush around rocks & boulders after emerging from giant glaciers. A terrain with mountain passes that is a trekkers delight, peaks that challenge mountaineers, a varied wildlife that attracts nature lovers, makes Lahul a fascinating land. Overnight in Keylong.
