Gulmarg is the crowning glory of Jammu & Kashmir and is located 2,650 meters above sea level. Known as the “Meadow of Flowers”, it boasts of the world's highest golf-course.
Places to Visit in Gulmarg:
• Gulmarg Gondola: One of the main attractions in Gulmarg is the Gulmarg Gondola, the Highest Cable Car in the world. The 1st phase of the Gondola takes tourists to the height of 8530 ft to Kongdori Station and the second stage of the Gondola goes up to the height of 12293 ft.
• Afarwat: The gondola on Apharwat Peak, one of the Asia's largest and highest cable car ringed by pine forests and snow capped Himalayan mountain peaks.
• Strawberry Valley: A hidden attraction in Gulmarg is Strawberry Valley, unexploited by tourism and still holding its nascent beauty and charm. The emerald meadows with budding red strawberries look like a picture straight out from Garden of Eden.
• Khilan Marg: his valley is known for its ski resort and is a popular destination for skiing enthusiasts. Every year thousands of tourists come to enjoy the skiing scenes. It is one of the thrilling activities for adventure junkies.
• Kongdoori: The Kongdori station is located at an elevation of 8,530 ft and the second leg of the ride takes people to the Apharwat mountain top.
• Golf Course: The Gulmarg Golf Course with a 6-hole course was built within a meadow by Colonel Neville Chamberlain in 1890 at Gulmarg, a hill station near Srinagar. In 1922 the first Golf championship was played at the course with the introduction of Nedou's Cup in 1929.
The name "Doodhpathri" means "Valley of Milk." It is said that the famous poet and saint of Kashmir, "Sheikh-Ul-Aalam" Sheikh- Noor-Ud-Din Noorani, has prayed here, and once, when he was in search of water in the meadows to offer prayers, he pricked the ground with his stick to search for water, and milk came out.
Places to Visit in Dhoodhpathri:
• Nilnag: The lake is famous for its turquoise water. The route from Yousmarg is rather difficult and unmotorable and goes through a dense forest. The lake's crystal-clear blue water gave it its name: nag stands for lake (or a spring) and nil for the blue colour.
• Tangnar Meadows: It is famous for its lush greenery, striking natural landscapes, and gushing streams. The place is called Doodhpathri because of the milky white water that runs through its rivers and streams.
• The Shiva Temple: It houses a Shiva temple, associated with Adi Shankaracharya, who is known to have meditated there. The view it offers is perhaps one of the best views of Srinagar city.
• Shaliganga River: Doodhpatri waterfall point is the main attraction in the Doodhpatri region. It's not a waterfall per say, but river Shaliganga flows through rocks and seems like milk, hence the name doodhpatri.
Aharbal is known for its waterfall, Aharbal Falls, where the Veshu falls noisily 25 metres and 7 metres through a narrow gorge of granite boulders. Aharbal Falls are also referred to as the Niagara Falls of Kashmir, owing to the volume of the water that falls.
Places to Visit in Aharbal:
Kungwattan: he town is approximately 1,500 meters above sea level and is known for its scenic beauty and religious significance. Lush green forests surround Kungwattan, home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. One of the main attractions of Kungwattan is the Kungwattan Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Gafar Baba Shrine: Hazrat Baba Abdul Ghafoor is credited with numerous Karamats (miracles), among which a prominent event involves his striking of an Aasa (staff or stick) upon a stone in the village of Hakapathri, resulting in the emergence of water that is used for drinking purpose as well as irrigating the agricultural fields even today. Another noteworthy event entails the transformation of sand into rice during cooking, an act of providence extended to an elderly woman facing scarcity of rice.”
Fishing: The nearby rivers are teeming with trout, offering anglers a chance to reel in their catch of the day. You can enjoy fishing if you are interested in it, but need to take a permit from “The Fisheries Department” stationed at Aharbal
Trekking: Access. The Kausar Nag Lake is accessible during the summer and can be reached from its trail-head Aharbal, by a 36 km hiking trail. Aharbal is connected with Srinagar, a 70 km motorable road passing through the towns of Shopian and Pulwama.
Mahinag: Discover this 14.1-mile out-and-back trail near Damhal Hanjipora, Jammu and Kashmir. Generally considered a challenging route. This trail is great for birding, hiking, and snowshoeing, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring.
Sonamarg: The Medow of Gold
Located at an altitude of 2,740 m, Sonmarg is an ideal stopover for nature lovers who want to enjoy camping in a hill station. Known as the Meadow of Gold, Sonmarg is the gateway to Ladakh and is known for its verdant and picturesque valleys and snow-clad peaks.

Places to Visit in Sonamarg:
Zojila Pass: It provides a vital link between Ladakh and Kashmir Valley. It runs at an elevation of approximately 3,528 metres (11,575 ft), and is the second-highest pass after Fotu La on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway.
Thajiwas Glacier: Thajiwas Glacier is a mesmerising glacier situated in the Sonamarg region of Jammu and Kashmir. The glacier offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and is a popular attraction for tourists visiting the area.
Vishansar Lake: Vishansar in hindi means the lake of Vishnu is home to many types of fishes among of which is the brown trout. It freezes during winter.
Satsar Lake: Satsar Lake is famous because of its natural beauty. Its lush green surroundings with the background of the Himalayan foothills make it an amazing travel destination for the numerous visitors that visit this place.
Krishansar Lake: The Krishansar Lake is adjacent to Vishansar Lake, at its back are the mountains standing covered with snow in which lies the Gadsar Pass, a mountain pass which leads to the Gadsar Lake. The lake is a famous trekking site just north of the Kashmir Valley. It is mostly fed by melting of snow and glaciers.
Gadsar Lake: Gadsar which means 'lake of fishes' is surely a name apt for the lake. It has a rich variety of trout fishes for tourists who enjoy fishing.
