The aim of Tarsar-Marsar Trek expedition is to trek from Sumbal in Sind Valley to Aru in Lidder Valley over Sonmasti Pass. The Tarsar-Marsar as the name suggests treks to the twin lakes of Tarsar and Marsar separated by a mountain close to the highest mountain peak of Kashmir Kolhoi Peak (5400M). It crosses streams, plenty of colorful meadows.

Though trekking in Kashmir is not newest but still this expedition is no walk in the park. Arduous days, steep and rocky passes and altitudes approaching 4200m all collide to create a challenging trek in one of the most beautiful and serene Himalayas of Kashmir.International or domestic flights Visa.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival. Reception At Srinagar Airport.

On arrival at Srinagar , you will be met by our representative at the airport and transfer you to the houseboat. During which you will have the oppurtunity to see around Srinagar. Overnight stay.
Day 2 Srinagar – Sumbal (3 Hours Drive) – Sonmasti (5 Hours Trek).

After breakfast at houseboat we drive to Sumbal in the Sind valley, taking Srinagar-Leh highway through the villages of Ganderbal. We pack or load on horses and start trek through pine forests. We pitch our tents at Sonmasti for an overnight stay.

Day 3 Sonmasti – Marsar – Sundersar (5 Hours Trek).

Start trekking through the barren landscapes of Marsar valley after crossing a mountain pass of 4000m we camp at Sundersar for an overnight stay.

Day 4 Sundersar – Tarsar Lake (4 Hours Trek).

Early in the morning we head towards Tarsar Lake steep ascend cross a pass of 4000 mtrs and descend continue trekking under the towering heights of Kolahoi Mountain and finally we reach Tarsar Lake; an almond shaped crystal clear lake surrounded by alpine flowers of every kind. We pitch our tents for an overnight stay.

Day 5 Tarsar – Shekwas (5 Hours Trek).

Start trekking down following a stream valley through meadows we camp at Shekwas the land of shepherds for an overnight stay.

Day 6 Shekwas – Lidderwat (5 Hours Trek).

Steady descend walk following the same stream valley we camp at Lidderwat the namesake for Lidder river here is a confluence of two streams. Overnight Stay.

Day 7 Lidderwat – Aru (4 Hours Trek) – Srinagar (3 Hours Drive).

On this day we trek down to a beautiful Aru valley and take our car back to Srinagar through Pahalgam. In a 3 hours drive we reach our houseboat for an overnight stay.

Day 8

Departure day. Drop at airport. Our representative will drop you at airport for departure.

All road transport by private ac cars (airport transfers/ from Srinagar to base camp and back).
Arrival/ departure 2 nights Deluxe Houseboat or Hotel accommodation in Srinagar (full board), unless specified.
5 nights tented accommodation (full-board) mountain camps.
All trekking gear included: tents, toilet tent, sleeping bags, mats, blankets, trekking poles.
English Speaking Kashmiri Local Guide and a Cook.
All cooking utensils including cooking LPG stove.
Horses to carry backpack (except day sack), group equipment (tents/ stoves/ fuel) to the higher camps.
