Tarsar Marsar Treking Tour

Travel from Srinagar toAru and three hours of soft trek to Lidderwat and establish camp for the night.Lidderwat is a meadow surrounded by towering cliffs on all sides and glacialwaters of Kolahoi rumble through it to make way to Pahalgam. Lidderwat andKolahoi have been very popular with westerners in 70s and 80s and a huge numberof explorers and climbers used to visit here.

Pack up camp and starttowards Tarsar Lake via Sekiwas early in the morning. At Sekiwas we have tocross the stream of water that flows from Tarsar lake itself. Today’s trektakes about five hours and then at an altitude of 3,800 metres we are greeted with a two kilometre longalpine lake shaped like a curved oval figure. We establish camp for the nightbesides the lake.

After having breakfast,we start trekking up towards Marsar ridge and descend from an altitude of 4,300metres towards the lake. Lunch besidesthe lake is a lifetime experience. We return to Tarsar Camp Area by 4 o clock in the afternoon andsettle for the night.

The camp is wound up andwe bid adieu to one of the most beautiful alpine lakes on this earth. It takesfour hours to trek down to Lidderwat and spend one more night in the lap ofnature.

We have had our share ofenjoyment and experience in this valley and it is time to head home. We loadall our stuff on ponies and trek to Aru in three hours. From Aru, we drive downsame day back to Srinagar city in two and a half hours.
