Our Telouet and Kasbah Ait Benhaddou day trips from Marrakech are perfect for those wanting a true taste of rural Morocco. Taking you through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass and the rest of the stunning Atlas mountains, our day trips are ideal for those who want to see the true beauty of Morocco’s countryside — from imposing cliff faces and lush fruit orchards, to the semi-arid landscape of south Morocco. Part of the trip heads alongside Oued Tichka — the river that flows throughout the pass. This river is surrounded by various fruit trees and beautiful wild gardens of oleander flowers. We will also see Berber women and children tending to their animals, negotiating even the steepest terrain to find firewood and food. As we head through to the other side of the Atlas mountains, the surroundings change from lush valleys and mountainous terrain to arid desert. This is where you’ll spot ancient kasbahs dotted along the horizon, built by master architects out of a special type of mud brick known as adobe. Covered in spires, turrets, and beautiful crenellations, these kasbahs are a stunning reminder of what Morocco looked like in the past. We’ll then head off the main road and toward the Telouet Kasbah. This Kasbah belonged to the Lords of the Atlas — and it shows. Filled with some of the most beautiful architecture in Morocco and with incredible views of the surrounding area, this Kasbah is well worth the visit before heading towards Ait Benhaddou for a bite to eat. As a key centrepiece of trade in Morocco during its time, Ait Benhaddou has a fascinating history. We’ll go around and explore the main areas of the Kasbah, including the top of the hill, the Mausoleum, and the various palaces and fortresses inside. Once you’ve seen everything you want to see, we’ll jump back in the 4×4 and take you back to your hotel in Marrakech before saying our farewells.
