Welcome to Bhutan! Upon arrival, be greeted and transferred to Hotel in Paro. Paro is considered one of the most beautiful valley in Bhutan with beautiful terraced paddy fields into the valley. The town still maintains tradition by way of its architecture and simple way of life. After lunch visit Paro Dzong which was built in 17th century to defend the valley against Tibetan invaders. And evening free, over night stay at hotel in Paro.
After breakfast hike to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest), be amazed by the view of this sacred temple hanging on the rocky cliff, and take in the beauty of Paro valley. The hike is of two and half hours journey. Paro Taktsang/Tiger’s Nest), is a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site and temple. It was first built in 1692, around the Taktsang Senge Samdup (stag tshang seng ge bsam grub) cave where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days and three hours in the 8th century.
For other group visit Kyichu Lhakhang, established in the 7th century and one of the two oldest shrines in the kingdom (the other is in Bumthang), marking the introduction of Buddhism in Bhutan, sightseeing around Paro town.
Gather in Paro town after hike from Taktsang, en route visiting Ta Dzong, National Museum. Ta Dzong holds unique and varied collections, ranging from ancient armor to textiles, thangkha and paintings. Dinner and over night stay at Hotel.
After breakfast, have a 45-minutes drive towards the north of Thimphu valley and hike to Tango Monastery, which dates back to 16th century and now the national institute for higher studies of meditation and Buddhist Philosophy. After that, have a picnic lunch and continue your hiking to Cheri Monastery.
After breakfast take an hour drive to Dochula pass, one of the most beautiful place in taking you to discover the dense forests, Dochula Pass is on the way to Punakha. The scenery is stunning and the air is pristine. Situated at an elevation of about 3100m, Dochula pass is high enough where on a clear day you can see a beautiful panoramic view of the snow capped peaks of the Himalayas. Visit Druk Wangyal Lhakhang (temple) was built in honor of His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. Stop for tea and snacks at Dochula Cafeteria. Head back to Thimphu for lumch and afternoon drive to Paro.
