The North – The northern tip of Madagascar is one of the best places to be visited if you come to Madagascar. This trip is a combination of a road trip and air transfer from Diego Suarez to Nosy Ankao (by helicopter). This allows you to discover the exceptional wildlife like the tiniest chameleons in the world in Amber Mountain. Then, enjoy the walk in Ankarana reserve where you can find the limestone massif, the Tsingy. Learn about Diego Suarez with its different bays and taste local foods. Finally, spend few days in Nosy Ankao, the largest of five islands in an archipelago of the northeast coast of Madagascar. Lots of activities could be arranged there such as snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, fishing, whales and turtle watching, spotting lemurs...

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

ARRIVAL ANTANANARIVO
On the first day, meet at the airport, then transfer you to your hotel. Accommodation bed and Breakfast basis.

Day 2

ANTANANARIVO – DIEGO SUAREZ ( BY INTERNAL FLIGHT) - ANKARANA.
Early breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport and fly to Diego Suarez.
Upon arrival, meet and drive directly to Ankarana travelling through the village of the sapphires diggers. Check-in at your hotel, overnight on Bed and Breakfast.

Day 3

A full day spent in the Special Reserve of Ankarana. Discovering the amazing tsingy lime stones and learning their geological formation, spotting lemurs, birds, different species of reptiles. Accommodation on Bed and Breakfast basis at your hotel.

Day 4

ANKARANA - DIEGO
Breakfast at your hotel, then on the way back to Diego Suarez, stop for the visit of the Tsingy Rouge and the sacred lake. Arrival in Diego, installation at your hotel, overnight on Bed and Breakfast.

Day 5

DIEGO SUAREZ-AMBER MOUNTAIN - DIEGO
Breakfast at the hotel. Day excursion to the Amber Mountain National Park. It is located 40km away from Diego, a volcanic mountain- range which extends from 850 to 1474 meters high. It is covered with thick wet forest, it is concealing several small crater -lakes , hidden by exuberant vegetation , this place is very rich in fauna and flora; the visitors could find several attractions : a wide range of reptiles, botanical fitted out paths , numerous spectacular waterfalls, crater -lakes can be easily observed. Back to your hotel.

Day 6

DIEGO SUAREZ
Breakfast at the hotel. Day excursion to the Bays of Diego Suarez. Among the sites to be visited: the Sakalava, Pigeons and the Dunes Bay as well as the Ramena beach where you may have the possibility to cross the fishermen villages and city tour in the capital, Antsiranana or Diego Suarez is a city of the Antakarana tribe which is a town reputed for the beauty of its bays which is considered as the second in the world after Rio of Janeiro.
