As you complete the immigration formalities of the airport and make your way out from the Arrivals Terminal, we would offer you a warm Nepalese welcome and transfer you to your hotel in Thamel in a private vehicle. At Pashupatinath you will get to see exceptionally carved statues and idols of Hindu deities, a long row of Shiva-Lings, series of small temples and the golden hood at the top of main Temple is truly fascinating. Moreover, an opportunity to witness the Hindu Death ritual at Aryaghat Pashupatinath is an offbeat cultural experience. After the exploration of Pashupatinath we will walk along the busy streets of Kathmandu to Boudhanath. A large domed shaped Buddhist stupa, Boudhanath holds huge religious significance among the Tibetan Buddhists of Nepal. A major shrine on ancient Indo-China trade route Boudhanath offered blessings to traders and scholars for safe journey through the high Himalayan passes to Tibet. Saffron robed monks circumambulating Boudhanath, colorful prayer flags touching the skyline from the dome pinnacle to the base of large monument and the and outlets selling Tibetan souvenirs makes this place a true Tibet outside Tibet. Post lunch the sightseeing tour continues to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The exemplary wooden and stone craftsmanship at the site makes a place the prominent attraction for tourists. The stone paved streets, pagoda style religious monuments inclusive different Hindu deities are the cultural delights of ancient and medieval Nepal at Kathmandu Durbar Square. Today’s final destination for sightseeing tour in Kathmandu takes you to Swayambhunath. A self emerged Buddhist stupa lies on a hilltop overlooking Kathmandu with its watchful eyes. You will get to experience more about Tibetan Buddhism at Swayambhunath. After the full day; sightseeing tour a private vehicle will escort you to your hotel.

  • Day 3 : Drive to Pokhara; Evening Boating At Fewa Lake

After the breakfast, we will drive straight to Pokhara city, which is 200 km west from Kathmandu. It is a 6-7 hour drive by a tourist bus. This drive will take you through beautiful forests, deep gorges and some local villages on the way to Pokhara. After reaching Pokhara, check in to hotel. If the weather is clear, you can see the reflection of Mt. Machhapuchhre in the lake. In evening, boating in Fewa lake and explore lake side. Overnight at Pokhara.

  • Day 4 : Fly to Jomsom. and Trek to Kagbeni 2800m

Early morning in the first possible flight you will fly to Jomsom. After 30 minutes of thrilling flight you will land at Jomsom and instantly set out on the trekking journey towards northern Kagbeni. Initially the trial cross passes interweaving seies of suspension bridges over Kali Gandaki River. Then the trek takes you through desert resembling the Tibetan ones and surrounded by stunning Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche Peak (6920m), Nilgiri, and Annapurna Ranges. Then path expands as it prolongs to north across the stretches of sand, pebbles and boulders. You will be recurrently passing by mules bringing supplies. More or less after 3 hours of the hike you will reach Kagbeni. It is a beautiful trading village. The residents here are the major links supplying foods and other basic needs from the urban cities to the Mustang region. The view of Mt. Nilgiri is the first mountain which will bump within our sight while arriving to Kagbeni from the south. The day’s trek ends at a tea house in Kagbeni.

  • Day 5 : Trek to Chele 3050m (6-7) Hours Trek

Today the trek begins with a steep climb through the array of gullies and small towers, crisscrossing to a viewpoint over Kagbeni with Nilgiri. As you reach to Kagbeni check post you will be provided a eye-catching white backdrop of Fluted Peak. The trail continues on the east bank of the Kali Gandaki River, through several ups and downs until you reach the village of Tange. The first phase of today’s trek to Tange is four hours long where you will enjoy the meal. It is a Mongolian village comprising Gurungs, Thakalis and some families from the land of Lo. From Tange the trail again climbs to the elevation of 3100 m. The trail then slides down steeply and rolls along the east bank of Kali Gandaki for one and half hours to the village of Chhuksang. Chele is seeable at a distant from Chhuksang. A short walk along the river bank will bring you to a firm bridge over Kali Gandaki River. Cross passing the bridge you will enter the tunnel which is burrowed under a vast block of red sandstone. Beyond the tunnel the short steep climb will bring you to Chele 3050m.

  • Day 6 : Trek to Eklo Bhatte 3820m. (6-6.5) Hours Trek

Today once again the Upper Mustang trek begins with gaining elevation sharply. It leads to a plateau through a small trough. Taking a sharp corner, the sight of the village of Ghyakar appears to the west. To the south panorama of Nilgiri, Tilicho peak and Yakawa Kang is awe-inspiringly amazing. Throng La Pass looks even greater. On the far-east the range of the Damodar Danda is seen. Beyond the plateau a short descent will take you to Samar- an old-world settlement in a orchard of willows with superior running water. Three hours walk to Samar might have exhausted you and hence you will take your lunch here. Post lunch at Samar the trail tumbles down sharply for about 70 m into a cavernous side ravine. A short steep climb will take you out of it and after a brief breather it pushes again into another side ravine. Again a steep climb will take you out which this time is steeper and longer. 2 hours of strenuous walk from Samar, will bring you to the altitude of 3750m and descends slightly to the first tea house. The second tea houses can be seen in the distance which is Eklo Bhatte, but once more the trail dives into another steep ravine and it will take another hour to reach it after a short up climb. Finally you will be at Eklo Bhatte. You will camp here for the night.

  • Day 7 : Trek to Ghami 3520m (6-6.5) hours trek

From the teahouse at Eklo Bhatte the trail climbs gently to a small pass at 3870m with views straight below into deeply windswept gorges. Dwelling in these gorges are monks who reside in the beautiful cave monasteries. About 90 minutes of hike from the camp, is the tea shop of Syangmochen. After a gentle climb the trail levels out to Chorten at 3700m and the first view of the Geling villages below 3500m is seeable. From here the trail plummets gradually into another less stern gully and climbs out to a collection of houses. You will release your tiredness here stopping for the lunch. Geling would be an ideal camping venue, since it is close to the monastery, chorten, and mostly wide pastures. However, post lunch the trail continues around above Geling and starts the long climb to the Nyi pass 3950m. A long descent, out of the wind, takes you down more steeply to Ghami 3520m.

  • Day 8 : Trek to Tsarang 3500m 6-7 Hours Trek

From the Gompa in Ghami two trial branches into two- a trail along the gully to the east of the village, steeply passes a trio of red, black and white chortens which are widespread sights in upper Mustang. At the bed of the gully are two bridges over the river, there is an express path to this point if you had not visited Ghami. You will follow the trail that climbs onto a gentle sloppy plateau and passes beside a very long wall after about half hour walk from Ghami. From the touch line of the wall the trail heads away from east to a very dramatic red eroded canyon wall soaring above the village of Tramar in the distance. From here you will climb progressively to an elevation of 3770m. From this point the descent to Tsarang is quite gentle and it can be completed in about 2 hours.

  • Day 9 : Trek to Lomanthang 3700m 5-6 Hours Trek

The trail continues northwest towads the the capital Forbidden Kingdom-Lomanthang once you depart Tsarang. As you are clear of the village the trail plummets steeply into the Tsarang Chu gorge. Then crossing the river beyond the gorge the route climbs along the steep hill. As you take sharp bend and head north a great view of the majestic white Himalayan peaks of Nilgiri, Tilicho and Annapurna I sprawl before you. At your back Brikuti peak shines to the southeast. The trail climbs along the west gentle side of the valley to west to the isolated chorten at 3620 m. It is about 2 hours from Tsarang. An hour hike beyond Tsarang you will be gifted with the views of some spectacular caves high up in the cliffs to the east. You will arrive at a “narrow window” pass at 3850 m. The view ahead extends out to display the western valley of Lo-Manthang. The bright bicolor monastery of Namgyal in a distant is observable with the wide valley surrounding it. Tingkar (the site of the King’s summer palace) and Phewa villages lay behind it. Just down from the pass are the first theatrical view of the walled city of Lo-Manthang and the ancient ruins of the forts on the hills behind it. There is a marvelous view to the east of the multi-colored Mustang Khola canyon, to the north lies the flattish, red-colored hills and the Tibetan border. The western view is dominated by the snow-capped peak of ‘Manaslu‘. The descent to Lo-Manthang is short and after crossing the small river and climbing briefly the fabled city is finally reached.

  • Day 10 : Explore Around and Day Hike to Lomanthang Eastern Valleys and Return to Lomanthang

You can visit the monasteries within this prosperous city with sophisticated culture. Wonder around the tall Champa Lakhang, red Thugchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa or the most popular Raja’s palace. However, getting inside these prehistoric monuments are fortunate ones as they open during the special occasions. Still, the external walls and the courtyards at these places are so magnificent you will adore them at the first sight. We are really sorry to inform that you will not be allowed to take the photographs in most of the sites at Lomanthang. The valley east of Lomanthang encloses Choshar, the spot of the high school and Garphu and Nyphu Gompas. This was the key course to Lasha used over centuries by the pilgrims, messengers, dacoits and invaders. The ruined downfalls of countless forts along the trial provide credibility to this observation. In six hours round trip to and these locations and back to Lomanthang is a huge achievement of the day.

  • Day 11 : Day Hike to Lomanthang Western Valleys and Return to Lomanthang

The highlights in the western valleys are Namgyal Gompa, Tingkar village. This is about 4 – 5 hours, round trip hike. It takes about 2 hours to reach Namgyal Gompa which is situated on a hilltop. It serves as an important monastery of the local community and as the local court. After visiting Namgyal Gompa the trek continues to Tingkar, a village of around 400 houses. It is the last main village to the north-west of Lo-Manthang.

  • Day 12 : Trek to Surkhang 3670m 4-5 Hours

From Lo-Manthang, the trail continues to Dhi pass (4100m) and descends down to Dhi village. Dhi village is one of the most prosperous villages of Lo-Manthang region. The trail goes to the river in around 2 hours and cross passing the river you will be reaching to Surkhang 3670m.

  • Day 13 : Day Hike to Lori Gompa ( Monastery) At Yara Gang and Back to Surkhang

Today you will reach to the elevation of 4000m at Yara Gang. At Yara Gang you will witness one of the oldest monasteries of the region- Lori Gompa. 4-5 hours round trip to Yara Gang and return back to Surkhang is one of the major highlights of the Upper Mustang Trek with Access Nepal.

  • Day 14 : Trek to Tange Height 3240 M 4-4.5 Hours Trek

From Surkhang, you cross Ghechang River, which starts off from a revered lake of Damodar Kunda. There is no bridge over the river, so you’ll need to wade crossways to the river in stripped feet. After crossing the river, the trail ascends to a pass at 3850m, and continues through the grasslands and brings you to hike along the naked hills. Beyond the pass the trail nose-dives down to the village of Tange 3240m. Tange is tiny village with around 30 houses. Most of the houses are attached to each other. On the roofs, you will witness the stacks of dried out wood, which also reflect the prosperity in their society.

  • Day 15 : Trek to Tetang Height, 2940 M 3-3.5 Hours Trek

Today the trail continues through deep ridges and provides astounding views of wind imprinted hills on both sides and brings you to a small village amidst the similar landscape. Tetang Village nestles between two of these hills to shield it from the strong wind that hit the entire Kali Gandaki valley. Tetang is the higher altitude village of Chhuksang.

  • Day 16 : Trek to Muktinath 3800 M, 6-7 Hours Trek

This is the last day of the Upper Mustang Trek or the trek to Forbidden Kingdom in Nepal. The trail goes through the village of Jharkot where you can see the Jharkot Monastery, a Tibetan herb medical center and the old fortress of Jharkot, which was once a palace. You will continue your final day of the trek by going towards Muktinath. You will also be able to view the Kali Gandaki Valley and Kagbeni Village which is the entry point of Upper Mustang.

  • Day 17 : Trek to Jomsom 2700m 5-6 Hours Trek

Begin the trek today along the Jhong Khola valley passing out Pharkot 3500m, Khingar 3200m and other small settlements. At the end of the long nonstop descent the trial finally reaches to Kagbeni 2810m. Kagbeni is an amazing and ancient town form where the road to the forbidden kingdom Mustang splits off. These days the forbidden kingdom Mustang comes under restricted trekking region, however the tourists can trek here with the special permit issued from the Ministry of Tourism. The houses at Kagbeni are stacked one against another and are made up of the pounded earth and the ruins of Sakyapa Monastery. Beyond Kagbeni the extremely extensive trial nearly leveled along the barren and harsh setting finally takes you to Jomsom 2743m. The landscapes between Kagbeni and Jomsom resemble the Tibetan highland deserts. At Jomsom release your exhaustion and enjoy the apple pies made from the fresh apples of Jomsom apple garden.
