Bijapur Fort is a notable historical monument in Karnataka. It stands tall in the city of Bijapur and is a key attraction for all visitors that throng to this place. This palatial structure is a sixteenth-century marvel that was erected under the era of Chalukyas but was modified under the reign of Yusuf Adil Shah, a ruler belonging to Adil Shahi Dynasty that ruled over Bijapur for more than 200 years. Today, it stands in a semi-ruined state and is protected by the state government as a monument of national interest.

1) Bijapur Fort is a mammoth-sized historical monument that was constructed by a Chalukya king, captured by Khilji, and ruled by Adil Shahi dynasty.
2) The vast structure was spacious enough for accommodating an entire army of armed soldiers and war beasts. However, the reign of Adil Shahi dynasty brought huge changes and constructed mosques, bastions, watchtowers, and chambers of the royal family members.
3) 5 gates known as Makka gate, Shahpur gate, Bahamani gate, Allahpur gate, and Fateh gate were constructed that gave this fort a unique identity.
4) Atop the fort, the cannons were placed and the entire structure was guarded by 2000 armed soldiers.
