Katavi is one of Tanzania's most remote and least visited national parks, offering an incredibly raw and authentic safari experience. The park is dominated by vast floodplains, seasonal lakes, and dense woodlands. During the dry season, thousands of hippos crowd into the remaining pools of the Katuma River — sometimes over 200 in a single pool. This creates dramatic scenes of hippo fights and crocodile interactions. Buffalo herds of over 1,000 animals roam the floodplains, and lion prides here are among the largest in Tanzania. The remoteness means you may have the entire park to yourself.
