Known as the 'Serengeti of Flowers', Kitulo Plateau National Park is one of the great floral spectacles of the world. During the rainy season, the plateau transforms into a stunning carpet of wildflowers — orchids, lilies, irises, and many more. Located in Tanzania's Southern Highlands at an altitude of 2,600 meters, Kitulo is Africa's first national park established primarily for floral protection. Over 350 species of vascular plants have been recorded here, including 45 species of orchids. While not a traditional Big Five safari destination, Kitulo is paradise for botanists, bird watchers, and hikers. Rare bird species including the endangered Kipengere Seedeater and Dendrosenecio can be found here.
