Mnemba Island is a tiny, privately managed island located about 3 kilometers off the northeast coast of Zanzibar. Surrounded by a stunning coral atoll, it's one of the most exclusive and beautiful island destinations in East Africa. The Mnemba Atoll is a marine conservation area that supports an incredible diversity of marine life. The crystal-clear waters are home to over 600 species of fish, bottlenose dolphins, green turtles, and humpback whales during migration season. While the island itself is home to an exclusive luxury lodge (limited to a small number of guests), the surrounding atoll is accessible for snorkeling and diving excursions — and it's absolutely spectacular. The visibility often exceeds 30 meters. Between June and September, green turtles nest on Mnemba's beaches, and baby turtles can be seen making their way to the ocean. Dolphins are regular visitors, and their playful pods are a highlight of boat trips to the atoll.
