11 Days Khaptad Trek Tour

The first day of our journey begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj which takes about 1 hour to reach Nepalgunj. From Nepalgunj, we drive towards Buditola along the Karnali River through picturesque settlements, lush with green vegetation and beautiful landscapes. After about four hours of driving from Nepalgunj, we reach Buditola where we stay overnight.

After breakfast, we drive to Silgadhi, the famous city and the most beautiful place in the western region. The drive takes about six hours to reach there.

We start our trek early in the morning, from Silgadhi to Jhigrana via Baglek (2160m). After having breakfast, we trek to Baglek for about 3 ½ hours and stop for the lunch. After lunch, the trek gets continued to Jhigranad and it takes about 3 ½ hours to reach our today's destination.

From Jhigrana, we trek further for four hours to reach Bukipani Dharmasala (3020m). We take lunch here and continue our trek for two and a half hours to reach Bukipani where we stay for overnight.

Today is the shortest and the easiest day of our trek. After breakfast, we walk for two hours and reach Khaptad, the heavenly place of the region. Upon arrival, we have lunch and visit Khaptad Baba’s Ashram (hut) and Triveni. Khaptad Baba was a great person to find many herbal medicines and he was also a philosopher and have written many books. People in the area equate him to a God.

We explore Khaptad National Park today. Our visit includes: Museum, Khaptad Danda, Patan, and Khatad tower to have a great view of the area. The Khaptad National Park was established in 1984 and has an extraordinary ecosystem with a huge variety of vegetation ranging from sub-tropical forests, in the lower altitudes, to temperate forests on the Khaptad plateau. There are more than 224 species of medical herbs, about 11 percent of flowering plants of Nepal, 260 species of birds, 500 types of herbs, and a large number of flora and fauna found in Khaptad National Park.

Today we return back to Jhigrana, we use the same trail as used before. We trek for about four hours from Khaptad to Bichpani and then to Jhigrana.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we drive towards Dhangadhi. It is located at the boarder of India and Nepal and is also the headquarter of Kailali district.

Today, early in the morning, we say goodbye to western Nepal and take a flight to Kathmandu. The flight offers stunning views of the Himalayas for one last time. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we have free time to explore on our own.

Our incredible adventure in western Nepal, including the Khaptad trek, concludes today. A representative from the company will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the airport three hours before your scheduled flight.
