5-Day Holiday to Uganda - Gorilla Trekking

Pick up from Entebbe airport or hotel before 10am by your assigned professional English speaking tour driver guide and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park features diverse ecosystems with many primate species, over 600 bird species and classic big game. You will stop for lunch en route and arrive in the late afternoon or evening to check into accommodation and relax. If time permits there is an option for a late afternoon to evening game drive.

Start early with breakfast then proceed for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains searching for Cape buffalo, herds of elephants and with luck lions and leopards. Return to accommodation to rest and have lunch. In the afternoon enjoy a 2 hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel between Lakes George and Edward with sightings of giant hippos, elephants, crocodiles and many bird species along the shores. After the boat trip you may return to the lodge to rest or opt for a brief late afternoon game drive before returning to the lodge.

After breakfast travel to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, noted for tree climbing lions with an estimated 60 to 70 percent chance of sighting. Search for lions in the trees or grasslands then continue to the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Given the strenuous day ahead you will check into accommodation and relax in preparation for gorilla trekking the next day. There is an optional chimpanzee tracking activity in Kyambura Gorge available for an additional cost which requires permits secured in advance.

After breakfast proceed to the rangers post for a briefing on the dos and donts of gorilla trekking then embark into the Bwindi Forest for gorilla trekking. The rainforest terrain is steep and densely vegetated; trek duration and difficulty vary depending on gorilla movements. Once you locate a gorilla group you will spend one hour with them. After this unforgettable experience transfer to Lake Bunyonyi to relax among green terraced hills rising to about 2200 to 2478 meters and admire the lake with its 29 islands.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast with views of the islands of Lake Bunyonyi then begin the return journey to Entebbe Airport. En route stop for lunch and visit the Uganda Equator line at Kayabwe for photos and the opportunity to purchase local art pieces. Continue to Entebbe arriving in the late afternoon or evening for drop off at the airport in time for flights recommended at 19:00 or later.
