7-DAY NORTHERN SERENGETI MIGRATION SAFARI – MARA RIVER CROSSING

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by your safari representative and transferred to Arusha, the gateway to Tanzanias Northern Safari Circuit. Arusha lies at the foot of Mount Meru and is surrounded by lush coffee plantations and scenic landscapes. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and prepare for the safari ahead. Accommodation for the night is at Arusha Planet Lodge with Dinner and Breakfast included.

After breakfast depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its giant baobab trees and large elephant populations. The park offers excellent year round game viewing and attracts many species to the Tarangire River including lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, leopards and numerous antelope species. Bird enthusiasts can enjoy more than 500 recorded bird species. Following a full day game drive and picnic lunch in the park, continue to Karatu for dinner and overnight at Farm of Dreams Lodge. Meal plan for the day is Full Board.

After breakfast depart Karatu and travel via the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands into the Serengeti ecosystem. The landscape transforms into vast open plains and you will enjoy game viewing en route as you move toward Central Serengeti, also known as the Seronera region. This area is famous for abundant resident wildlife and thriving predator populations, providing excellent game viewing. Accommodation is at Into Wild Serengeti Camp with a Full Board meal plan.

After breakfast enjoy a game drive as you journey north through Serengeti National Park toward the Kogatende region in Northern Serengeti. During migration season vast herds of wildebeest and zebras move through this area in search of greener pastures. Along the way enjoy wildlife sightings and stunning scenery before arriving in Northern Serengeti where the Mara River crossings create some of the most dramatic wildlife spectacles on earth. Accommodation is at Heritage Mara Kogatende Camp with Full Board.

Spend a full day exploring Northern Serengeti and tracking the Great Migration herds around the Mara River. Between July and October thousands of wildebeest and zebras gather along the riverbanks before making the perilous crossing into Kenyas Maasai Mara ecosystem. River crossings often involve giant Nile crocodiles and stalking predators and provide dramatic wildlife interactions. The region also supports elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs and a variety of birdlife. Accommodation remains at Heritage Mara Kogatende Camp with Full Board.

After breakfast enjoy a final game drive in Northern Serengeti before beginning the journey south through the Serengeti ecosystem. Continue to enjoy game viewing while taking in the spectacular landscapes that define this remarkable wilderness. Arrive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the late afternoon where you will enjoy panoramic views of the highlands and prepare for your crater safari the following day. Accommodation is at Embalakai Ngorongoro Camp with Full Board.

After an early breakfast descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africas most extraordinary wildlife sanctuaries. The crater floor supports a high concentration of wildlife including lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas and the endangered black rhinoceros. Enjoy a game drive and picnic lunch on the crater floor surrounded by breathtaking scenery before ascending the crater walls and returning to Arusha in the afternoon where the safari concludes. Meal plan includes Breakfast and Lunch for the day.
