7-DAY NORTHERN SERENGETI MIGRATION SAFARI – MARA RIVER CROSSING

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by your safari representative and transferred to Arusha, the gateway to Tanzanias Northern Safari Circuit. Located at the foot of Mount Meru, Arusha is surrounded by lush coffee plantations and scenic landscapes. The remainder of the day is at leisure allowing you to relax and prepare for the exciting safari adventure ahead. Accommodation is at Arusha Planet Lodge with meals as noted.

After breakfast depart for Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzanias most rewarding wildlife destinations famous for giant baobab trees and impressive elephant populations. The park offers excellent game-viewing opportunities throughout the year with the Tarangire River attracting lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, leopards and numerous antelope species as well as diverse birdlife. Following a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch continue to Karatu for dinner and overnight at Farm of Dreams Lodge.

After breakfast depart for Serengeti National Park via the scenic Ngorongoro Highlands. As you enter the Serengeti ecosystem the landscape gradually transforms into endless plains stretching as far as the eye can see. Enjoy game viewing en route as you travel through wildlife-rich areas toward Central Serengeti, also known as the Seronera region, famous for abundant resident wildlife and thriving predator populations making it one of the best game-viewing destinations in Africa. Accommodation is at Into Wild Serengeti Camp with full board meals.

After breakfast enjoy a game drive as you journey north through Serengeti National Park toward the Kogatende region in Northern Serengeti. During migration season vast herds of wildebeest and zebras move through this area in search of greener pastures. Along the way enjoy wildlife sightings and stunning scenery before arriving in the Northern Serengeti where Mara River crossings create some of the most dramatic wildlife spectacles on earth. Accommodation is at Heritage Mara Kogatende Camp with full board meals.

Spend a full day exploring Northern Serengeti and tracking the Great Migration herds around the Mara River. Between July and October thousands of wildebeest and zebras gather along the riverbanks before making the perilous crossing into Kenyas Maasai Mara ecosystem. These crossings often feature giant Nile crocodiles lurking predators and dramatic wildlife interactions. The region is also home to elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs and a variety of birdlife. Overnight at Heritage Mara Kogatende Camp with full board meals.

After breakfast enjoy a final game drive in Northern Serengeti before beginning your journey south through the Serengeti ecosystem. Continue game viewing while taking in the spectacular landscapes that define this remarkable wilderness. Arrive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the late afternoon to enjoy panoramic views of the highlands and prepare for your crater safari the following day. Accommodation is at Embalakai Ngorongoro Camp with full board meals.

After an early breakfast descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africas most extraordinary wildlife sanctuaries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater floor supports an incredible concentration of wildlife including lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas and the endangered black rhinoceros. Enjoy a game drive and picnic lunch surrounded by breathtaking scenery before ascending the crater walls and returning to Arusha in the afternoon where the safari concludes.
