North Sikkim permits (Protected Area Permit & Inner Line Permit) are mandatory for Lachen, Lachung, Gurudongmar, Yumthang & Zero Point and must be arranged through a registered Sikkim tour operator in Gangtok before travel.
South Sikkim (Namchi, Ravangla, Temi) generally does not require special permits.
Spring (April–June) is one of the best times to see rhododendrons in Yumthang.

Day 1

Arrival & Gangtok Sightseeing

Activities
Arrive Bagdogra Airport / NJP Railway Station → transfer to Gangtok (5–6 hrs).
Late afternoon: stroll MG Marg Gangtok (cafés, shops).
Visit Banjhakri Falls & Energy Park — refreshing nature walk close to the city.
Stay: Gangtok

Day 2

Gangtok Local + Optional High-Altitude Excursion

Enchey Monastery

Morning
Excursion to Tsomgo (Changu) Lake + Baba Mandir (permits required, vivid glacial lake).
(Optional: Nathu La Pass — check weather/permit status well in advance.)
Afternoon
Enchey Monastery and other local viewpoints.
Stay: Gangtok

Day 3

Gangtok to South Sikkim (Namchi + Ravangla)

Morning
Drive to Namchi (approx. 4–5 hrs from Gangtok).
Visit Siddheshwara Dham / Char Dham with huge Shiva & char dhams replicas.
Photo-stop at Samdruptse Hill viewpoint.
Afternoon
Drive to Ravangla.
Buddha Park (Tathagata Tsal) — tranquil site with giant Buddha statue, gardens and views.

Day 4

Ravangla & Temi Tea Garden → Return to Gangtok or Move to West Sikkim

Morning
Visit Temi Tea Garden for scenic tea-estate photography & stroll.
(Optional) Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary & Hill trek (moderate adventure).
Afternoon
Drive back to Gangtok → prep for North Sikkim.

Day 5

Gangtok to Lachen (North Sikkim)

Early Morning
Drive from Gangtok to Lachen (long scenic mountain drive through Chungthang; 6–7 hrs).
Afternoon
Explore the small village, acclimatize to altitude (8,800 ft).
Enjoy mountain views, local cafe snacks.
Stay: Lachen

Activities : Sightseeing
Day 6

Gurudongmar Lake → Travel to Lachung

Very Early Morning
Visit Gurudongmar Lake (~17,800 ft): sacred high-altitude lake with surreal views.
Afternoon
Drive to Lachung.
Short walk to Lachung Monastery in the village.
Stay: Lachung

Day 7

Yumthang Valley & Zero Point → Return to Gangtok

Morning
Explore Yumthang Valley (Valley of Flowers) — blooming rhododendrons & alpine vistas.
Extend to Zero Point (Yume Samdong) (snowy plateau ~26 km beyond Yumthang) if weather/permits allow — unique snow experience.
Afternoon
Drive back to Gangtok (~6–7 hrs).

Departure

Transfer to Bagdogra Airport / NJP Railway Station for onward journey.
