8-Day Lemosho Route Mount Kilimanjaro

Begin at Londorossi Gate and trek through the lush rainforest to reach the first camp at Mti Mkubwa. This initial day introduces you to Kilimanjaro's lower rainforest zone and sets the pace for the climb.

Leave the forest behind as you trek from Mti Mkubwa Camp into the moorland zone and reach Shira 2 Camp. The landscape transitions to open moorland offering expansive views and improved acclimatization.

A gentle hike across the Shira Plateau from Shira 2 Camp to Moir Hut focused on acclimatization. The plateau terrain provides relatively easy walking to help the body adjust to increasing elevation.

Trek from Moir Hut toward the Lava Tower at approximately 4,630m for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp. The day includes altitude gain followed by a descent to lower camp for recovery.

Scale the Barranco Wall and traverse across terrain to reach Karanga Camp in the Karanga Valley. This day features the technical Barranco Wall and a ridge traverse leading into the valley camp.

A shorter hike from Karanga Camp up to Barafu Camp, the high altitude base camp for the summit attempt. The day is focused on reaching the higher camp and preparing for summit night.

Summit day with a pre-dawn final push from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, the roof of Africa, followed by a long descent down to Mweka Camp. This is the most demanding day, combining the summit ascent with a full-day descent.

Final walk through the forest from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, concluding the trek and collecting summit certificates. The descent returns you to lower altitudes and completes the itinerary.
