  • The roads in Kenyan tourist areas are mostly unpaved and in poor condition. Your vehicle may experience minor problems due to the bumpy ride, which is normal. Our drivers will handle these issues promptly, and we appreciate your understanding.
  • Friendly Reminder: Most hotels in national parks are located in wildlife reserves and are surrounded by electric fences to prevent animals from entering. However, some hotels do not have electric fences. For safety reasons, please have the hotel arrange for someone to accompany you when you travel.
  • Kenya is a tipping country. If you need help from others, you can give them a small tip as a token of your gratitude.

Important Notes For Traveling To Kenya

  • Transportation: Generally, it is a 7-seat open-top tourist bus (without air conditioning). The roof can be opened, and each bus can accommodate a maximum of 6–7 tourists. Please keep the bus clean and tidy, and remove cigarette ash and fruit peels. Place other trash in the prepared trash bags for the driver to dispose of. Do not throw trash out of the vehicle.
  • Road Conditions: Road conditions between national parks are not good. After rain, roads leading to national parks are often washed out.
  • Travel time is long. For example, from Nairobi to the Sai Mara is 260 kilometers, and the driving time is 7 hours. During the long drive, please be sure to fasten your seatbelt.
  • There will be dust during the journey. Please carry your own prepared reusable face mask.
  • Rest Stops: Due to the long driving time, the driver will need to stop for rest stops. These rest areas will have shops selling small handicrafts, but they are not designated tourist shopping stops.
  • Shopping during the trip is entirely the tourist's personal choice. Please choose your shopping activities carefully. The travel agency assumes no responsibility for any shopping activities.
  • Due to the presence of national reserves, national parks, or wildlife parks in Kenya, local roads are mostly undeveloped and in poor condition. Additionally, the peak season in Kenya and the large number of vehicles..
  • The vehicles operate continuously along the scenic route. Minor problems with the vehicles are normal as long as they do not affect the guests' itinerary. Please understand and cooperate.
  • Please note! The security situation in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, is not very good. During your tour of Nairobi, please keep your vehicle tightly closed when passing through busy urban areas or market areas where there are many people. Windows are installed to prevent local criminals from reaching out and snatching tourists' phones or cameras.
  • Most hotels do not provide televisions or other entertainment equipment.
  • Bring a travel adapter. Fully charge your camera every night before bed, and if possible, bring an extra battery. Also, fully charge your phone and power bank, whether you're shooting animals, landscapes, or other subjects. Using WeChat and Weibo frequently will likely cause your battery to last a full day.
  • US dollars and Kenyan shillings circulate in Kenya.
  • Get vaccinated against yellow fever two weeks in advance. Please bring your own yellow fever vaccination certificate (issued 20 days in advance) when entering Kenya.
  • The yellow certificate, also known as the International Certificate of Vaccination, is one of the necessary documents for traveling to African countries. The relevant departments established this document primarily to ensure the safety and health of people in Kenya.
  • Tourists and related personnel entering and leaving Kenya will not introduce or take infectious diseases or germs into or out of the country. Due to the humid climate and diverse biodiversity in African countries, vaccination is essential.
  • In China, you can get a yellow fever vaccination and obtain a certificate at the health and quarantine bureau of your province. Random checks are occasionally conducted upon entry. Once you have the certificate, please keep it with your passport and do not check it in.
  • For information on locations where the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis can be obtained, please refer.
  • Please carry your usual medications, sunscreen, lip balm, and sun-protective clothing. Kenya is located near the equator. Due to its high altitude, the local climate is a tropical savanna climate. There is a large temperature difference between day and night.
  • Therefore, wear short sleeves during the day and long sleeves at night. It's not recommended to bring shorts. Long pants won't feel hot during the day, and they can protect you from mosquito bites at night.
  • Recommended standard outfit: Two pairs of long pants, two short-sleeved shirts, and a light shirt are essential. A thicker jacket is a must, as it gets quite cool at night.
  • Also, be aware that the UV radiation in Africa is intense, so a sun hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses are all indispensable.
  • Furthermore, since there is a lot of dust during the safari, it is best to bring a headscarf or mask.
  • Obey local laws and regulations and do not feed wild animals. Nairobi has a poor security situation, and you are strictly prohibited from going out after dark.
  • Friendly Reminder: Please keep your personal valuables with you at all times to avoid loss. In Kenya, different attractions and hotels may vary, so please carefully check that you have all your belongings before checking out to avoid leaving them at the hotel, which would be extremely difficult to retrieve.

Travel Instructions

  • The group price is calculated based on 2 people sharing 1 room. If there are single men or women, we will try our best to arrange for them to share a room with other group members of the same gender or to add an extra bed. If the guest does not require such arrangements or the travel agency is unable to make them, please pay the single room supplement to enjoy a single room.
  • When shopping locally, please consider carefully, pay attention to quality and price, and be sure to keep all shopping receipts. If the shopping location provides an invoice, please ask for it.
  • Whether to grant a visa or endorsement, and whether to allow entry or exit, is the prerogative of the embassy/consulate and relevant departments. If a visa cannot be processed in a timely manner due to the tourist's own reasons or problems with the provided materials, the visa may be revoked.
  • Visa fees and other expenses incurred due to visa refusal by relevant authorities, resulting in travel restrictions and disruptions to the itinerary, shall be borne by the traveler. If you have already obtained your visa, please provide a copy of your valid passport and visa for verification of your name and visa validity. You will be responsible for any losses incurred due to issues with your visa.
  • To avoid delays to your trip, please arrive at the airport 180 minutes before your international flight departure to complete check-in and immigration procedures. If your itinerary includes a domestic segment within an overseas flight, please arrive at the airport 60 minutes before departure to check in.
  • The tour departure notice will be sent no later than one business day before departure. If it can be confirmed earlier, we will notify you as soon as possible.
  • Group tours do not allow members to leave the group without permission (except during free time). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
  • Optional activities recommended during free time are suggestions only. Participation is entirely voluntary and at your own expense. If you choose to participate, you must indicate this during the trip. A separate written agreement will be signed. If there are insufficient participants for some projects, the trip may not be possible or the fees may be adjusted accordingly.
  • Please make rational purchases at the shopping stops during the itinerary and retain relevant receipts. Shopping at these stops is not mandatory, but your cooperation in entering and exiting the area with the group is appreciated.

Return Requirements

  • Goods must be intact and undamaged.
  • For damaged goods, please present the purchase invoice when returning them.
  • Transaction fees incurred when purchasing goods by credit card are the customer's responsibility.
  • Since the goods were not sold by our company, we will coordinate with the merchant to process the return. For specific return and exchange procedures, customers will need to mail the goods to the merchant themselves. Thank you for your understanding.
  • If there are shopping stops during free time in the itinerary, you have the right to choose whether or not to participate. If you choose to participate voluntarily, you need to sign a separate written agreement with the tour guide/leader.
  • If you are listed as a dishonest person subject to enforcement, you may be prevented from traveling normally. You can verify this yourself before registering to avoid unnecessary losses.

Relevant Laws

  • Kenya has enforced a ban on plastic bags since August 28, 2017. All individuals (including tourists) are prohibited from using, manufacturing, or importing plastic bags. Any violator will be punished immediately upon discovery.
  • Convicted individuals will face hefty fines or imprisonment. Therefore, tourists traveling to Kenya are strictly prohibited from bringing any plastic products (including single-use plastic bags and other disposable plastic items) into the country.
  • Whether it is checked or carry-on luggage, do not bring any plastic bags into the country. Plastic bags are also prohibited during travel in Kenya. Violators will face hefty fines and imprisonment.
  • The maximum penalty is four years in prison and a fine of US$30,000 to US$80,000.
  • Wildlife-related products such as ivory and ivory products, or rhinoceros horn and its products, are prohibited items. Please do not purchase or carry them; otherwise, you will be solely responsible for all consequences. Each country has its own regulations regarding this.
  • According to the law, individuals who bring ivory into or transit through the country will be subject to detention, imprisonment, and fines in accordance with the laws of the country in question.
  • For example, Chinese law sets three levels of penalties for illegally bringing ivory into the country. Smuggling precious animal products valued at less than 100,000 yuan is considered a minor offense and carries a penalty of up to five years' imprisonment.
  • For smuggling precious animal products valued at 100,000 yuan or more but less than 200,000 yuan, imprisonment for a term of not less than five years but not more than ten years and a fine may apply.
  • If the value of the goods exceeds 200,000 yuan, it is considered particularly serious and punishable by imprisonment for 10 years or more, or life imprisonment, and confiscation of property.
  • Scenic Spot Tour
  • During animal viewing in national nature reserves or national parks, you are not allowed to get out of the vehicle and must remain inside (lunch is only allowed within the Masai Mara National Reserve with a packed lunchbox).
  • Tourists are only allowed to disembark briefly when the vehicle is parked in a designated area. Furthermore, it is strictly forbidden to stick your head or hands out of the window while in the vehicle, as this poses a risk of attack by wild animals.
  • Throwing any food or items at animals is prohibited. Doing so could result in hefty fines from the authorities or prosecution by the local government. Also, avoid making loud noises to prevent startling the animals and causing accidents.
  • If you see Maasai people, a local minority group, wearing red clothing on the street, please do not take photos of them or their free-roaming animals without their permission, as this violates their taboos.
  • They may demand large tips or snatch the photographer's camera or belongings.
  • There are many small animals in the park, and they may climb into your car and take your belongings. Please keep your belongings safe, especially your passport. Do not let the animals accidentally take them.
  • The tour guide may adjust the itinerary according to actual circumstances without reducing the number of attractions. If attractions cannot be visited due to force majeure events such as weather, traffic jams, or strikes, the company reserves the right to adjust the attractions or refund the losses based on the ticket price after the tourist returns home.

Photography Guidelines

  • Kenya is undoubtedly a photographer's paradise, especially during the Great Migration, which presents a fantastic opportunity for photography. While enjoying the fun of photography, please keep the following points in mind.
  • When entering Kenya through customs, please fill out the photography equipment declaration form truthfully. When customs officers request an inspection, please be patient. Kenyan customs officers may solicit tips, which are not permitted.
  • The expenses should be paid by the guests themselves and are not related to the travel agency.
  • In Africa, please do not take photos of uniformed personnel, border guards, customs officers, police, government buildings, the US embassy, etc.
  • When taking photos in Nairobi and along the way, please keep a close eye on your equipment and other valuables to avoid loss.
  • Due to road conditions, tour buses in Kenya are generally 9-seat dedicated tour vehicles with open tops, accommodating a maximum of 6–7 tourists per vehicle. However, for professional photography groups and photography enthusiasts, the photography equipment is large and plentiful, so we recommend seating 4–5 people per vehicle. If additional vehicles are needed, please inform our company when registering. The additional vehicle cost will be borne by the tourists.
  • When taking photos in nature reserves or parks such as the Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and Amboseli, you cannot get out of the vehicle at will. You can only take photos inside an open-top vehicle or in designated areas. A telephoto lens and a wide-angle lens are essential.
  • When taking photos or videos with Maasai people, always ask for their permission to avoid unnecessary disputes.
