After breakfast, head to Tamshing Lhakhang (Tamzhing/Lhundrub Choling), one of Bhutan’s sacred monasteries founded by Pema Lingpa. The lhakhang is located across the river from Kurjey Lhakhang, offering views of the valley and a quiet, contemplative atmosphere.
Next, drive toward the Tang Valley to visit Membartsho (Burning Lake / Mebar Tsho). It is about 30 minutes by road from Chamkhar town; from the road-end it's only a short walk to reach the pool.
The “lake” is really a sacred pool on Tang Chuu river, and legend has it that Pema Lingpa dove in holding a burning butter lamp, emerging with treasures and the lamp still lit.

Be mindful: the area can be slippery, strong currents exist, and it’s considered a pilgrimage site with spiritual significance.

Client Testimonials
  • Ong Chin Haut, Malasia
    Reviewed: Sep 26, 2025
I visited Bhutan last March and loved every moment: Thimphu’s calm energy, Majestic Punakha Dzong by the rivers were unforgettable. The guides were kind, punctual, and full of insight, and the hotels were cozy with great views. The drives over Dochu La were smooth and scenic but difficult with curves. A beautifully organized trip—highly recommended!
