Package Overview

Hidden deep in northeastern Bhutan are two fascinating villages, Merak and Sakteng, once closed to visitors until 2009. They remained protected for centuries to preserve the unique culture and traditions of their people, the Brokpas – semi-nomadic herdsmen whose way of life is unlike any other in Bhutan.

The Brokpas live in harmony with their animals – yaks, sheep, cows, and horses – moving with the seasons in a lifestyle that has endured for generations. Their cultural heritage is incredibly rich, with customs, dress, and traditions distinct from the rest of the country. To meet them is to step back in time and witness a living culture that still thrives today.

This tour not only takes you into the heart of Merak and Sakteng but also across the enchanting landscapes of eastern Bhutan, where the past seamlessly blends with the present. It is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in Bhutan’s untouched cultural treasures before they change forever
