This is a superb 8-day trek for strong walkers. Starting from Paro it goes into northern Bhutan to the land of yak-herders and to the base of Mount Cholomhari (7,316 meters / 24,000 feet), which is the most holy mountain for the Bhutanese. From there the trek goes on to remote Lingshi Dzong which once guarded the frontier with Tibet. This trek offers fabulous views of the mountains including Chomolhari, Jitchu Draake and Tsheringkhang mountains besides stunning Himalayan scenery and exceptional flora. You will encounter many yak-herders with their hairy wards and their camps but few villages. The maximum altitude gained is 4,900 meters (16,000 feet).

  • Day 1 : Arrive Bhutan

    Fly Bangkok to Paro, Bhutan. Afternoon visit Museum and Paro Town. Hotel. Flights are also available from Kathmandu and New Delhi.

  • Day 2 : Paro Sightseeing

    Paro Valley sightseeing and hike to Taksang. Hotel.

  • Day 3 : Chomolhari Trekking

    Trek up the Paro Chu River to Chomolhari Base Camp and continue over pass to remote Lingshi Dzong. Camps.

  • Day 4 : Chomolhari Trekking

    Trek up the Paro Chu River to Chomolhari Base Camp and continue over pass to remote Lingshi Dzong. Camps.

  • Day 5 : Chomolhari Trekking

    Trek up the Paro Chu River to Chomolhari Base Camp and continue over pass to remote Lingshi Dzong. Camps.

  • Day 6 : Chomolhari Trekking

    Trek up the Paro Chu River to Chomolhari Base Camp and continue over pass to remote Lingshi Dzong. Camps.

  • Day 7 : Chomolhari Trekking

    A full day of sightseeing, visiting the sites of Thimpu followed by a day-trip to scenic valleys of Wangdu and Punakha. Hotel.
