Description:
This is a short easy trek in Thimphu which opens up to a large number of gorgeous high altitude lakes popularly known as Dagala Thousand lakes trek. It is 29km drive from Thimphu to the junction of a rough, unpaved road leading to the take-off point. Villagers in this region collect and sell wild matsutake and chanterelle mushrooms.

Most of the time, you will trek through lush green forests and apple orchards of the Genekha community at 2,500 meters. The trail crosses a pass 4,240 meters to have spectacular view of the whole Dagala range. Going further leads you through several yak herders’ camps en-route the broad labatamba valley at 4,050 meters. While clear lakes teem with brown trouts, numerous wild alpine flowers and different species of pheasants and musk deer prevail. The routes are not well marked; so it is more of a cross-country traverse descending sharply through forests of rhododendrons and other coniferous trees.

Itinerary:
Day 01 : Arrive in Paro by Drukair and transfer to Genekha (1 hr.).
Day 02 : Trek Genekha to Lower Labatam (9 km, 4-5 hrs.).
Day 03 : Labatama (4 -5 hrs.).
Day 04 : Halt in Labatama.
Day 05 : Trek Labatama to Panka (8 km, 4 hours).
Day 06 : Talekha (8 km, 4 hours).
Day 07 : Thimphu.
