After breakfast proceed for a full day of Darjeeling sightseeing starting early with Tiger Hill to witness the sunrise and panoramic views of the snow clad Himalayan range including Kanchenjunga. Continue to Ghoom Monastery which houses a 15 foot statue of Maitreya Buddha and offers a peaceful spiritual atmosphere. Visit Batasia Loop where the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway spirals through landscaped gardens providing panoramic mountain views and conclude with visits to the Japanese Temple and the Peace Pagoda which offer tranquil settings and scenic views over Darjeeling town and the Himalayas.
After breakfast visit core Darjeeling attractions including the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday), P.N. Zoological Park (Thursday closed), Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre (Sunday closed) and view a tea garden from outside. The day focuses on museums, institutes and scenic viewpoints followed by an overnight stay in Darjeeling.
Transfer from Darjeeling to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport via the scenic Mirik route. En route visit Lepchajagat a serene pine forest area with panoramic mountain views, Simana View Point overlooking hills of India and Nepal, the Indo Nepal border area and Pashupati Market for local shopping, Gopaldhara Tea Estate and Mirik Lake. Continue towards NJP or Bagdogra for onward journey.
