Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Thanjavur

  Arrival at Trichy airport and transfer to hotel at Thanjavur for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Meals & Drinks : Breakfast, Dinner

• Day 2 : Thanjavur

  After an early breakfast proceed to UNESCO world heritage site – The Grand Brahadeshwarar Temple of 1010 AD. A guide would take you through the times of the Cholan glory and explain the arts and architecture of Tamil Nadu. In the evening drive to Thiruvayaru to attend the finale of Thyagaraja Aaradhanai, tribute to the god of South Indian classical music on his anniversary. Retire to hotel at Thanjavur for dinner and overnight stay.

• Day 3 : Chidambaram

  After an early breakfast drive to ‘Gangai Konda Cholapuram’ – UNESCO world heritage site built during the medieval period of India, erected as the capital of the Cholas by Rajendra Chola I. Drive to Chidambaram by evening and enjoy the dance festival at the Nataraja Temple. Drive back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay. ?

• Day 4 : Mamallapuram

  After an early breakfast drive to Nataraja Temple (Shiva Temple) and see its glorified architecture and learn its mythology. Proceed to Mamallapuram. Arrive at Mamallapuram for dinner and overnight stay.

• Day 5 : Mamallapuram

  After breakfast proceed to visit the 7th century port city of the South Indian dynasty reigned by the Pallava. The Rathas (temples in the form of chariots), Mandapas (cave sanctuaries), Giant open air rock reliefs such as the famous Descent of the Ganges, and the Shore Temple, with thousands of sculptures to the glory of Lord Shiva will bring to life the pages of history. The Group of monuments at Mamallapuram has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend the evening at the world famous classic music and dance festival enjoying Mamallapuram. Retire to the resort for dinner and overnight stay.

• Day 6 : Kancheepuram

  After an early breakfast drive to Kancheepuram - golden city of thousand temples, the haven for world famous silk saris. You are driven to Kailasanathar temple built between 685 -705 AD by the Pallava Dynasty. After Dharshan visit the temples of Vardaraj Perumal and Ekambareshwarar known for its magnificent tower Gopuram) and structure. After dharshan drive to meet the native hand woven silk sari weavers and later retire to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

• Day 7 : Thiruvanamalai

  Up early in the morning to experience the divine singing processions at the Ekambareshwarar temple or Vardaraj Perumal temple in praise of the lord, Thiruvembavai and Thirupavai. Drive back to the hotel fresh up and drive to Thiruvanamalai. Visit the Ramana Maharishi Ashram, a 20th century Hindu sage who empowered mankind with the idea of ‘Self Inquiry’. Later visit the astonishing Thiruvanamalai Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva representing Fire amongst the Panchaboodha (5 elements). Overnight Stay.

• Day 8 : Madurai

  After breakfast, drive to Madurai and check in to a heritage hotel to experience the villages of Tamilnadu preparing for Pongal celebrations and stay overnight.

  After an early breakfast take a walk around the Meenakshi Amman Temple to relish the fragrance of native flowers from the temple and the aroma of ethnic filter coffee. Later have dharshan of Sundershwarar. The sprawling 17 acres of the mammoth Meenakshi Amman Temple is the architectural marvel that pinnacles mythology, 2500 years old. Later drive to Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal of the 1636 AD and enjoy the Sound & Light Show.

• Day 10 : Madurai

  Ride along the villages, to experience the Harvest Festival, Pongal, that marks the start of sun's six-month long journey northwards (Uttarayana). Enjoy the colors and traditions of the festivity.

  After an early breakfast head to the finale of the tour, to experience the world famous Tamil sport Jallikkattu. Later drive to the airport at Madurai/Trichy airport. ?
