Gangtok is the capital of the northern Indian state of Sikkim. Established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the 1840s, the city became capital of an independent monarchy after British rule ended, but joined India in 1975. Today, it remains a Tibetan Buddhist center and a base for hikers organizing permits and transport for treks through Sikkim’s Himalayan mountain ranges.
Assistance at IXB Airport/ NJP railway station on arrival and drive to Gangtok (Capital of Sikkim). Gangtok is also a resting ground for people traveling to North Sikkim. After breakfast start for local city tour of Gangtok visit Rumtek Monastery, Botanical Garden, Santi View Point, Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology, Cottage Industry (Closed on Sunday, 2nd Saturday) and Dodurl Chorten, Flower Show, After lunch visit Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok and Bakthang Waterfalls. Evening is free at leisure. Overnight stay will be at Gangtok.
Day excursion trip of Tsongmo Lake (12,400 ft.) & Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial ( ft) 52 kms from Gangtok city. Tsongmo Lake freezes completely during the winter and is much revered by the locals. Overnight stay will be at Gangtok.
Morning will be free for packing & personal activities. Check out from hotel and drive to NJP/Bagdogra.
