Gasa is the largest of the districts in Bhutan, but it is also the most isolated and the most sparsely populated or scattered settlement The northern frontier of Gasa is separated from Khangmar county of Tibet by the formidable Himalayan snow range, which stretches from Mount Gyelpo Matsen(7158m) to Mount Zongaphugang (7060) and Mount Kulha Kangri (7554m). Local traders still gain access to Khangmar via the frontier passes of Yak La and Phiru La. Bhutan�s highest mountain, Gangar Punsum (7540m) is also located in this district, making the northern reaches attractive to trekking expeditions. The elevations here range from 1500-7500m! Nearly all the headwater of the Mo-Chu and Pho-chu, which converges at Pungthang Dechen Dzong, rise in the Great Himalayan range of Gasa district. Trip Overview:
