Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival

You will be met at Johannesburg Airport and transferred 2.5-hours to your riding camp in the scenic Waterberg Mountains, a UNESCO biosphere reserve renowned for its diversity of plant, bird and wildlife.

Check into your riding camp situated in a private game reserve with over 20,000 acres of superb riding country. After a late lunch, you will introduced to your safari horse. We will ensure that you are matched with a horse to suit your ability and experience, before heading off on your ride. On route through the Matlapeng reserve, the ride will pass “Red Dam” where you are likely to encounter our pod of resident hippo. We then ride to a stunning lookout spot for sundower drinks before returning to camp.

Saddles are Trail or English, with a few Australian stock saddles. You can avoid the single supplement if you are willing to share. You must bring your own helmet and riding boots (half chaps are advised rather than long boots) and good walking shoes. Wear comfortable riding clothing in neutral colours such as green, brown and khaki. Loose fitting cotton shirts are the most comfortable, with short sleeves to protect your shoulders from thorns. Avoid white or bright colours as these are easily seen by the animals. Also black and navy as these absorb the heat. Tight synthetic fabrics, shorts & skirts should also be avoided. Remember to pack sunglasses, wide brimmed sunhat, sunscreen, head torch, insect repellent, swimsuit and first aid kit with plasters.

  • Day 2 : Camp Davidson

Enjoy getting to know your horse today, as you settle in to Camp Davidson and enjoying riding in the spectacular Waterberg Mountains.

Afterwards meet with your lodge manager to discuss your wedding and any special requests you may have regarding your ceremony.

  • Day 3 : Wedding Day

Wake at leisure on this your WEDDING DAY.

Meet your Marriage Officer to discuss your wedding and the significance of the commitment you are about to make to each other. This is your opportunity to raise any special requests you may have regarding your ceremony.

Then settle back and enjoy every moment of this your Wedding Day as you exchange vows on horseback in a uniquely African setting under warm blue skies and create memories of a lifetime. Toast your marriage with champagne and enjoy a celebratory ride at sunset, followed by a romantic dinner under the stars.

Wedding package varies by hotel, but usually includes small bouquet of flowers for the bride, buttonhole for the groom, small wedding cake & a bottle of sparkling wine. Any other extras (eg make-up, photographer) will be subject to a supplement. Full details of the package you have chosen will be provided separately. We also offer a free Gift Registry App.

On your Wedding Day: Before your wedding, you will be required to sign a "Declaration for the Purpose of Marriage" (Form BI-31) and provide a print of your left thumb. After your wedding, you will be presented with a hand written marriage certificate and the second copy of the Marriage Register. After your marriage has been registered with the authorities in South Africa, an abridged marriage certificate will be sent to you and, for countries that require it, an Apostille will be arranged from the High Court (both these can take up to 3 months). Please be aware that all marriages in South Africa are "In Community of Property", unless a valid antenuptial contract has been entered into before the marriage. There is no requirement to register your marriage on your return to the UK, but many other countries do require this.
