Package Overview

The Jomsom Muktinath Trek is located in the remote Mustang region of Nepal. This trek follows the Kali Gandaki River gorge, and although it reaches a high altitude of 3800 meters, the trek can be undertaken by anyone with a modest level of fitness. Views of such grand 8000-meter peaks as Annapurna I, Nilgiri, and Dhaulagiri are visible along the trek. Century-old monasteries, caves, local tribes and the sheer splendor of the picturesque scenery make this trek an awe-inspiring experience. Parts of the landscape are tree-less and appear desolate. Rocky tracks lead up and down steep hills. For those who want a true adventure, this may be the trek for them.

During the first few days of the Jomson Muktinath Trek, the route ascendsalong terraces planted with rice and through villages inhabited by the ethnic people including the Gurungs. In Tatopani you will have the opportunity to relax in natural hot springs! In Kagbeni, north along the Kali Gandaki, an ancient castle is located. This attractive area has some nice lodges. The magnificence of the Dhaulagiri Glacier is soon visible along with the first glimpses of the windy Tibetan Plateau on the way to the holy Hindu pilgrimage site of Muktinath (3800 m). A hallowed temple has 108 waterfalls that resemble water flowing from taps and secret natural gas fires that will perplex one’s mind. From Muktinath one travels downward to Jomsom village on the Tibetan Plateau where one can view the gateway to the "Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang" and get a closer look at traditional cultures.The Jomsom Muktinath Trekis also noted for it spiritual significance and is important to both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims.Extra day hotel stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara
