Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Ahmedabad

    Today arrive at Ahmedabad. On arrival check in at the hotel. Proceed to visit Gandhi Ashram, City museum and Hathising Jain Temple. Later in the evening proceed to visit Adalaj Step well and Akshardham Temple. Overnight stay at hotel.

    Adalaj Step-well : It is situated 17kms north of Ahmedabad. The step well at the village of Adalaj is another fine example of this magnificent architectural form. Adalaj Vav is richly carved, every pillar and wall surface covered with leaves and flowers, birds and fishes and friezes of ornamental designs.

    Akshardham : Lord Swaminarayan, born in Chapaya in Uttar Pradesh, took a seven year piligrimage in Gujarat to preach his religion. He built six temples, the first being at Kalupur in Ahmedabad. Akshardham, the Swaminarayan temple of Gandhinagar, is a modern complex, built in traditional Indian architectural style from 6,000 metric tons of pink Rajasthan sandstone, carved by expert artisans from Bansipahadpur. The temple is set in a multi-acre garden called Sahajanand Van, with intricate sculptures of Hindu Gods. There is a gold leaf copper sculpture of Lord Swaminarayan that faces similar sculptures of Gunatinand Swami. The interiors have beautiful columns in rosewood, that rise up to a high dome.

    The first floor galleries house a museum portraying the 500 parahansas, a letter to his guru, Ramanand, a piece from an old tree from Chapaya, his pure wool shawl, a replica of his old home, a diorama of the lord on a horse and other displays. The galleries outside have a state-of –the –art exhibition using Chez Integrovation shows, audio-visuals, multi-media, dioramas fo the life of Lord Swaminarayana and from the Hindu epics to introduce visitors to the concept fo the Akshardham movement, founded in 1907 AD to promote the preachings of Lord Swaminarayan.

  • Day 2 : Ahmedabad – Lothal – Velavadar – Bhavnagar (200kms/4hrs)

    In the morning start for Bhavnagar. Enroute visit Lothal. Lothal is one of the most prominent cities of the ancient Indus valley civilisation. Also visit Velavadar The Velavadar National park is known for the successful conservation of the blackbuck, wolf and the lesser Florican. Arrive at Bhavnagar. Later proceed to visit Nishkalank Mahadev Temple in Koliyak, Bhavnagar. Overnight stay at hotel.

    Blackbuck National Park is a national park in India located at Velavadar in the Bhavnagar District of Gujarat state, India.

    Established in 1976 in the Bhal region of Saurashtra, the park is located around 42 km from the district headquarters city of Bhavnagar. Hugging the coasts of the Gulf of Khambhat on the south, it is spread over an area of 34.08 km2, which was primarily a "vidi" (grassland) of the maharaja of the princely state of Bhavnagar for hunting the blackbucks with his famous hunting cheetahs. On the northern side, it is surrounded by wastelands and agriculture fields. The national park has been classified as 4B Gujarat-Rajwada biotic province of semi-arid bio-geographical zone.

  • Day 3 : Bhavnagar – Palitana – Sasangir (200kms/4hrs)

    Today proceed to Sasanigir. Enroute visit Palitana. Palitana is the world’s only mountain that has more than 900 temples.Palitana temples and whole mountain are considered the most sacred pilgrimage place by the Jain community, and is the world's largest Temple Complex with 3000 temples. Later arrive at Sasangir. Visit Gir Interpretation Zone. Overnight stay at hotel.

    The Palitana temples are the large groups of Jain temples located on Shatrunjaya hills near Palitana in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, India. Also known as Padliptapur of Kathiawad in historic texts, the dense collection of over 800 small shrines and large temples here has led many to call Palitana as a "city of Temples". It is one of the most sacred sites of Svetambara tradition within Jainism. These temples were built in and after the 11th-century CE.

  • Day 4 : Sasangir – Diu (110kms/2hrs)

    In the morning take jeep safari in Gir national park. Come back to hotel having breakfast check out from hotel Later, proceed to beach town Diu. Later, visit St. Paul's Church, Diu Museum and Diu Fort. Evening is at leisure to laze and relax on the beach. Overnight stay at the hotel.

    The Diu Fort, is a Portuguese-built fortification located on the west coast of India in Diu. The fortress was built as part of Portuguese India's defensive fortifications at the eastern tip of the island of Diu during the 16th century.

  • Day 5 : Diu - Somnath (90kms/2hrs)

    Proceed to Somnath today. On arrival visit Bhalka Tirth, Triveni Sagam, Geeta Mandir Chopati & Somnath Temple. In the evening attend Aarti and later watch light and Sound show. Overnight stay at the hotel.

    The Somnath temple (also known as the Deo Patan) located in Prabhas Patan in Veraval in Saurashtra on the western coast of Gujarat, India is believed to be the first among the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva. It is an important Hindu pilgrimage and tourist spot of India and especially of Gujarat. Reconstructed several times in the past after repeated destruction by several Muslim invaders and rulers the present mandir was reconstructed in the Chaulukya style of Hindu temple architecture and completed in May 1951. The reconstruction was started under the orders of the first Home Minister of India Vallabhbhai Patel and completed after his death. Presently the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is the chairman of Shree Somnath Mandir trust.

  • Day 6 : Somnath – Porbandar - Dwarka (230kms/5hrs)

    Today, proceed to the sacred town of Dwarka. Enroute visit Porbandar. At Porbandar visit Kirti Mandir – the place where Gandhiji was born and Sudama Temple – The only Sudama Temple in the world. Later arrive at Dwarka. Visit Dwarkadeesh Temple. overnight stay at hotel.

    Dwarka: An ancient city, housing one of the principal pilgrimages - ‘Dwarkadhish temple’ of Hindus. According to the legend, Lord Krishna moved to this coastal town to set up a capital. Marine excavations of the Dwarka coast have revealed important evidences of ancient city, which probably include the ‘Dwarawati’ of the ‘Krishna Lila’. Today, it is not only a major pilgrimage site but a pleasant spot for a beach holiday.
    Another popular place in Dwarka, part of the Dwarkadhish Temple is Sabha Mandap. It is a 60-pillared hall, which houses almost 2500 years old scriptures. The hall has ‘jharokhas’, offering a nice view of the nearby flowing Gomti River.

  • Day 7 : Dwarka – Jamnagar - Rajkot (250kms/5hrs)

    In the morning take a trip to Bet Dwarka, visit Old Temple of Krishna. On the way to Bet Dwarka, visit Nageshwar Temple – One of the 12th Jyotilingam of Shiva, Rukmini Temple and Gopi Talav. Enroute visit In the evening, visit Bala Hanuman Temple at Jamnagar known for its nonstop Ramdhun since 1956 and it mentioned in Guinness Book of World Records. Later arrive at Rajkot. Overnight stay at hotel.

    Bet Dwarka : Bet is situated at 30kms from Dwarka and is surrounded by sea from all sides. One can reach Bet from Dwarka through Okha by road. On reaching Okha port jetty, one can reach Bet through a little sea journey in a launch or in a small boat.

    Nageshwar Temple or Nagnath Temple is located on the route between Gomati Dwarka and the Bait Dwarka Island on the coast of Saurashtra in Gujarat. The Jyotirlinga enshrined in the Temple of Nagnath is known as Nageshwar Mahadev and attracts thousands of pilgrims all round the year. This powerful Jyotirlinga symbolizes protection from all poisons. It is said that those who pray to the Nageshwar Linga become free of poison. The Rudra Samhita sloka refers to Nageshwar with the phrase 'Daarukaavane Naagesham'

    Rukmani Temple : This temple stands 2 km away from Dwarka City. The local explanation given for this distance is an old legend. They say, once Lord Krishna and his wife Rukmini went to the sage Durvasha to invite him for dinner at Dwarka. He agreed on the condition that Krishna & Rukmini would have to pull his chariot instead of any animal. The couple happily obliged. While pulling the chariot, Rukmini became thirsty so Lord Krishna prodded his toe into the earth to draw a spring of the holy Ganga water. Rukmini took a sip without offering Durvasha. Annoyed by her impoliteness he cursed Rukmini that she would be separated from her beloved husband. Hence Rukmini temple is located 2 kms away from Dwarka's Jagat Mandir. Maybe 2500 years old, but its domed mandapa and stepped sanctuary cannot be older than the 12th century in its present form.

    Bala Hanuman Temple : Bala Hanuman Temple is a pilgrim place venerated by the devotees of Lord Rama. It is a world famous temple, known for the continous chanting of Jai Ram, Shri Ram. The chanting is going on since 1964 and has found a place for it in the Guinness Book of World Records. People chant the name of the Lord in shifts, 24hours a day.

  • Day 8 : Rajkot - Ahmedabad (230kms/5hrs)

    In the morning check out from hotel and proceed to Ahmedabad. On arrival at Ahmedabad drop at Ahmedabad airport/railway station for your onwards destinations.
