Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Bhuj

    Today, arrive at Bhuj to Meet, Greet & transfer to hotel, check in to hotel. Later Proceed to local City Tour visit places like Aina Mahal Museum, Pragmahal Museum, Bhartiya Sanskriti Darsan Exhibition & Cenotaphs of Royal Family. Overnight stay at the hotel.

    Aaina Mahal : It was constucted by Rao Lakhpatji (1707-61 AD) in 1750 AD, who was a great patron of art, rchitecture, music & literature. Aaina Mahal is a unique example of an Indian palace built in the mid-eighteenth century with European influence.

    Prag Mahal : Rao Pragmalji II (1838-76 AD) undertook the constuction of Prag Mahal. He appointed a famous architect- Colonel Henry Saint Wilkins to design it, who had designed Deccan College, Sasoon Hospital, Ohel David Synagouge, St.Paul's Church at Pune, Frere Hall at Karachi & Secretariat at Bombay. It is built inthe Italian Gothic style, having a large Darbar Hall, big rooms, wide verandahs & a 45meter high lofty bell tower. It was built using the various type of stones available in Kutch region. This is a fine example of Indian craftmanship combined with European architectural design.

    The Kutch Museum : Formerly known as the Fergusson Musuem, was founded by Maharao Khengarji III in 1877 AD. Its the oldest museum in Gujarat. Constructed in the Italian style, the museum is located in picturesque surroundings on the bank of Hamirsar Lake. The museum has been a center of attraction for scholars due to its large collection of Kshatrapa inscriptions, carious archaeoligical objects, fine collection of arms & specimens of various crafts of Kutch region. Other places of interest at Bhuj are- Cenotaphs of Kutch rulers, Snake Temple at Bhujiyo Hill Fort, Swaminarayan temple, Vegetable market, Hatkeshwar temple & Alfred High School.

  • Day 2 : Bhuj – Excursion to Banni Villages (300km /6hrs)

    Today, get ready to explore the Banni and Pachcham regions and the edge of the Great Rann of Kutch. Visit Dhordo village, Bhirandiyara village, Ludiya village and Khavda village. Later visit Kalo Dungar (Black Hill) and Dattatray Temple, which provides the view of the Great Rann & sunset. Return to the bhuj. Overnight stay at the resort.

    Khavda ( 85 Km) – a Small village ,One can visit to Khatrivas to see artisans printing & selling Ajrakh. The town also has skilled Leather Craftsmen and there are some shops retailing local crafts, including Leather Slippers. Off the main road is a clinic run by Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan (KMVS), Federation of Kutchi Women’s groups.

    Ludia Village is comprised of several hamlets belonging to the Meghwal & Samma Communities. The latter community, primarily herdsmen, is more conservative when it comes to tourists. Gandhi nu Gam, populated by the Meghwal community, features beautifully Painted Bhungas .The Kanjari (Blouses) of the women and the Bhunga decoration of this village are especially colorful.
    To curb exploitation & experiment with community marketing, the hamlet has set up an “Otlo” or a roofed platform next to the Temple, where each household brings out their embroidered goods for selling.

    Drive to Hodka. Take typical Kutchi Lunch at Shaame-e-Sarhad Village Resort. Hodka – a cultural village is located in the Banni Grassland, right on the edge of the great Salt Desert – the Rann. The name Hodka is derived from the Gujarati word “Hodi” meaning Boat, as the shape of the Jheel is believed to be in the shape of a Boat. It is believed to have been set up by the Halepotra clan. ‘Halepotra’ literally means the ‘Son or the descendant of Halaji’, who is believed to have immigrated from Sindh. The village is now a part of National project. The village is famous for its craft like Decorative Mirrors, Lamps, Hand Fans, Letter Boxes, Wall Hanging, Lather, Clay, Wood, Metal and Mud Work especially the exquisite Silver Jewellery. The artisans sell their goods directly from their artistic Huts.

    Full day excursion to Banni Villages (Suggest with pack lunch). The last village on the border is a Desertland of in finite dimensions, and in its midst, quaint little villages suspended in Time.Here you will come across master craft people' expositioning their traditional art,turning our master pieces everyday.Theirments,clothes,utenisils,everyrthing they use - will make you feel as if you have stepped into lifestyle museum leaving you spellbound. Evening Back to the Hotel for Overnight at Bhuj.

  • Day 3 : Bhuj Excursion to Mata No Madh - Lakhpat – Narayan Sarovar -Koteshwar (300kms/06hrs)

    Today, Visit Mata no Madh - the famous temple of Ashapura Mata. At Lakhpat visit Lakhpat Fort, unique Gurudwara and a beautiful tomb of Gosh Muhammad (famous saint) constructed with hard black stone. Visit Narayan Sarovar is one of the most sacred sites in Hindu religion and is considered to be the third sacred. Also visit Koteshwer Shiva Temple. Overnight stay at Bhuj.

    Lakhpat is a sparsely populated town and sub-district in the Kachchh district in the Indian state of Gujarat located at the mouth of the Kori Creek. The town is enclosed by 7km-long, 18th-century fort walls.

    Historically Lakhpat has been a very important trading post connecting Gujarat to Sindh. The waters of the Sindhu river used to flow into Lakhpat and further on to Desalpar Gunthli. In historic times, Lakhpat had only one very short period of prosperity. Rice used to be cultivated there, which was the source of 800,000 Koris in annual revenue. It is also said that Lakhpat used to generate an income of 100,000 Koris everyday from maritime activities.

    Narayan Sarovar or Narayansar is a village and place of pilgrimage for Hindus on the Kori Creek. It is located in Lakhpat taluka of Kutch district, Gujarat, India. The ancient Koteshwar temple lies only 4 km away.

    According to Hindu theology, there are five sacred lakes; collectively called Panch-Sarovar; Mansarovar, Bindu Sarovar, Narayan Sarovar, Pampa Sarovara and Pushkar Sarovar. As per legends, one of the holy rivers of India, Sarasvati River had an out let in to sea near present-day Narayan Sarovar and waters of lake were filled with holy waters of River Saraswati, that is why this place was and is still considered as one of the five holy lakes by Hindus.

    Vallabhacharya visited the place during his lifetime as such the site is sacred also for the follower of Pushtimarg.

    Ashapura Mata is an aspect of Devi and one of the principle deities of Kutch. As the name indicates, she is the Goddess who fulfills the wishes & desires of all those who trust and believe her. A distinguishing feature is that most idols of Ashapura Mata have 7 pairs of eyes.

    Her temples are mainly found in Gujarat. Some people in Rajasthan and Gujarat consider her to be an incarnation (avatar) of goddess Annapoorna Devi.

  • Day 4 : Bhuj - Mandvi (60kms/01hr)

    Today, enjoy the costal town Mandvi. Visit Vijay Villas Palace – Summer retreat of the royal family. Visit to Organic Farm; 72 Jain Temple Complex; Shipping Yard at Mandvi. Enjoy balance day at the private beach. Overnight stay at the hotel.

    Vijaya Vilas Palace is the famous one time summer palace of Jadeja Maharao of Kutch located on sea-beach of Mandvi in Kutch, Gujarat, India.

    Vijaya Vilas Palace has its own private beach which offers air-conditioned tented accommodation. The royal family of Kutch State now reside permanently in the palace, who earlier used it only as a summer resort. It was after the 2001 Gujarat earthquake in which one of the wings of their other palace at Bhuj - the Ranjit Vilas - was heavily damaged, they moved into Vijaya Vilas Palace. The Palace also houses a museum.[2]

  • Day 5 : Mandvi – Bhuj (60km/1.5hrs)

    After breakfast drive to Bhuj on arrival drop to Bhuj airport/railway station for onward destination.
