A 7 day guided Mount Kilimanjaro trek starting and ending in Arusha. The itinerary begins with a transfer from Arusha to Londorossi Gate and proceeds through rainforest, heath and moorland, the Shira Plateau, Lava Tower, Barranco Wall and Karanga Valley before reaching Barafu Camp for the final summit attempt to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). The package includes park fees, professional English speaking mountain guide, assistant guides, porters and cook, camping equipment and all meals during the climb, drinking water, rescue fees and a summit certificate. Daily hiking times and driving time are provided to help plan acclimatization and logistics.
The adventure begins with an early morning pick up from your hotel in Arusha and a drive to Londorossi Gate for registration before starting the trek. You hike through lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp. Driving time is approximately 4 to 5 hours and hiking time 3 to 4 hours. Meals provided on this day include lunch and dinner and you overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp.
After breakfast continue hiking through the heath and moorland zone while enjoying spectacular views of the Shira Plateau. Hiking time is around 5 to 6 hours. Meals for the day include breakfast, lunch and dinner and you overnight at Shira 1 Camp.
The trek on this day is shorter to aid acclimatization while crossing the scenic Shira Plateau. Hiking time is approximately 4 to 5 hours. Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner and you overnight at Shira 2 Camp.
Climb gradually to Lava Tower for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp. This important acclimatization day greatly improves chances of reaching the summit. Hiking time is 6 to 8 hours. Meals for the day are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you overnight at Barranco Camp.
Climb the famous Barranco Wall then trek through valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp. Hiking time is around 4 to 5 hours. Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner and you overnight at Karanga Camp.
Continue the trek to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. After an early dinner rest and prepare for the midnight climb. Hiking time is approximately 3 to 4 hours. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you overnight at Barafu Camp.
Start the summit attempt shortly after midnight and ascend to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa, to witness the unforgettable sunrise. After summiting descend to Mweka Gate where you will receive your summit certificate before driving back to Arusha. The full hiking time for the summit and descent is 10 to 14 hours. Meals on this day include breakfast and lunch.
