Package Overview

Seven-day guided Mount Kilimanjaro trek starting and ending in Arusha. The itinerary covers a progressive ascent across rainforest, heath and moorland, the Shira Plateau, the Lava Tower acclimatisation point, Barranco Wall, Karanga and Barafu camps, and a midnight summit attempt to Uhuru Peak before descending to Mweka Gate and returning to Arusha. Daily hiking times and included meals are specified for each day. The package includes park fees, experienced guides and crew, camping equipment, all meals during the climb, drinking water, rescue fees, summit certificate and transfers from Arusha.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 Arusha To Mti Mkubwa Camp Via Londorossi Gate

Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a drive to Londorossi Gate for registration. After registration you start the trek through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp. The day includes significant driving and initial hiking as you enter the mountain environment. Driving time is approximately 4–5 hours and hiking time is around 3–4 hours. Meals for the day are lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Day 2 Mti Mkubwa Camp To Shira 1 Camp

After breakfast you continue hiking from Mti Mkubwa Camp through the heath and moorland zone while enjoying spectacular views of the Shira Plateau. This full trekking day helps you gain altitude and experience the plateau environment. Hiking time is approximately 5–6 hours. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Shira 1 Camp.
Day 3 Shira 1 Camp To Shira 2 Camp

This day features a shorter trek across the beautiful Shira Plateau to aid acclimatization as altitude increases. The shorter hiking duration allows your body to adapt while you experience the plateau landscape. Hiking time is approximately 4–5 hours. Meals for the day are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Shira 2 Camp.
Day 4 Shira 2 Camp To Barranco Camp Via Lava Tower

Climb gradually from Shira 2 Camp up to Lava Tower for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp. This is an important acclimatization day that improves your chances of reaching the summit. The day's trekking involves ascent to the high point at Lava Tower and a descent to camp. Hiking time is approximately 6–8 hours. Meals are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Barranco Camp.
Day 5 Barranco Camp To Karanga Camp

Climb the famous Barranco Wall then continue trekking through valleys and ridges toward Karanga Camp. This day combines a notable climb with ridge and valley walking as you continue your ascent and acclimatization. Hiking time is approximately 4–5 hours. Meals provided are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Karanga Camp.
Day 6 Karanga Camp To Barafu Camp

Continue trekking from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, the base camp for your summit attempt. After arrival you will have an early dinner and prepare for the midnight climb to the summit. Hiking time for the approach to Barafu is approximately 3–4 hours. Meals are breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will overnight at Barafu Camp ready for the summit push.
Day 7 Barafu Camp To Arusha Via Uhuru Peak And Mweka Gate

Start the summit attempt shortly after midnight from Barafu Camp to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa, and witness the unforgettable sunrise. After reaching the summit you descend to Mweka Gate where a summit certificate is presented, then drive back to Arusha. This is the longest hiking day with a summit push and descent. Hiking time is approximately 10–14 hours. Meals provided are breakfast and lunch.
