Mount Kilimanjaro 7 Days Itinerary

Your adventure begins with an early morning pick up from your hotel in Arusha and a drive to Londorossi Gate for registration. From Londorossi Gate the trek starts through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp. The day includes a significant drive followed by a shorter hike to the first camp. Driving and hiking time estimates help plan the day and meals of lunch and dinner are provided with overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp.

After breakfast you continue hiking from Mti Mkubwa Camp through the heath and moorland zone toward the Shira Plateau, enjoying expansive views of the plateau en route to Shira 1 Camp. The day features a longer hiking segment with full board meals and overnight at Shira 1 Camp.

This shorter trek across the beautiful Shira Plateau allows your body to acclimatize to the increasing altitude while moving from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp. The day is oriented around acclimatization with moderate hiking time, full board meals and overnight at Shira 2 Camp.

Climb gradually from Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower for a crucial acclimatization stop, then descend to Barranco Camp. This important acclimatization day improves chances of summit success and includes a longer hiking period, full board meals and overnight at Barranco Camp.

Climb the famous Barranco Wall then trek through valleys and ridges en route to Karanga Camp. The day involves moderate hiking with scenic terrain and continued acclimatization, includes full board meals and overnight at Karanga Camp.

Continue the trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, which serves as the base camp for your summit attempt. After arriving at Barafu Camp have an early dinner and rest in preparation for the midnight climb to the summit. The day includes a shorter hike, full board meals and overnight at Barafu Camp.

Start the summit attempt shortly after midnight from Barafu Camp to reach Uhuru Peak at 5895m and witness the sunrise from the highest point in Africa. After summiting descend to Mweka Gate to receive your summit certificate and then drive back to Arusha. This is the longest hiking day and includes breakfast and lunch.
