Textile and Terracota Tours of Bengal

Arrive Kolkata. On arrival meet and assist at Kolkata Airport and then transfer to hotel for check-in. Free at leisure. Overnight Kolkata Hotel.

After breakfast, full day city tour of Kolkata covering Dakshineshwar Kali Temple, Oldest Catholic Church in Calcutta, Howrah bridge, National Museum, Victoria memorial, Mother Teresa House & Marble Temple etc. Dinner & Overnight Kolkata Hotel.

Bishnupur was existing from Gupta Period. The name Malla Dynasty sounds it was a Tribal Dynasty as “Malla” or “Wrestlers” are depicted on those Terracota panels, there are many Wrestling figures are on the panels. We start after breakfast about 8.00 AM for Bishnupur, its about 160 Kms. and 3- 4 Hrs. Drive, On the way we Stop at “Antpur” where our first Terracota Temple situated, a massive “ Atchala” structure (Shaded Structure) where Beautiful work on Stories of Ramayana & Mahabharata on walls at the same time we see some Rural Textile weaving centre. Proceed for Bishnupur through beautiful Bengal Villages on the way and reach about 2.00 PM (Lunch Time) Check in Tourist Lodge and have Lunch there. Around 4.00 PM Start walking to see some of very Interesting Temples of Terracota and Late rite Stone. We return lodge by 6 PM, relax, Dinner and overnight Bishnupur Hotel.

After Breakfast we start again by walk to see the most Important Teracota Temples of Malla Dynasty of 16th Century. These are Master Piece and restored and maintained by ASI, Then we visit “Panchmura” Village which is about 45 Mins. Ddrive where the whole village make the Famous Terracota Horses and toys by clay. Return to Lodge and post Lunch we visit the weaving village of famous “ Baluchori Sarees” of Bengal.Outstanding Presentation of mythological stories on those Silk sarees which is a speciality of Royal Families Nowadays they make Scarf also. Return Lodge. Dinner & Overnight Bishnupur Hotel.

Shantiniketan, the place where Debendra Nath Tagore, father of Rabindra Nath Tagore found Peace when Rabindrnath was a young boy and he did meditation in search of “ Param Brahma” or form of Supreme God in the nature. which Tagore followed his rest of life. Shanti means Peace Niketan mean House / mansion After Breakfast we start for Shantiniketan, about 120 Kms & 3 Hours Drive, the place is famousfor great Poet and Noble Laurete Rabindra Nath tagore and his university “Biswabharati” Work of “Batik” on Cotton and Silk fabric are done by local women and patronized by the institution Lots of Batik work, “Kantha Stitch” can be seen in this area, Chwck in Hotel, and a quick lunch break. Post lunch visit University Campus, Museum and “Batik” Printing places, and village of Famous local folk Singers called “ Baul’ we may get them sing for us by paying. Baul Song and Shaotal dance also can be organized at Hotel in the evening on Extra Payments. Dinner & Overnight Shantiniketan Hotel

Murshidabad, this was the place where modern period of British India History started after Lord Clive of East India Co. defeated Nawab Shirajuddaula in 1757. This place is full of Interesting Architecture of Mughal era, Hazarduari Palace (Thousand Doors) it was made byBritish for local Muslim Ruler who helped East India Co.in battle of Palassey. Palace is having lots of European objects and paintings.After Breakfast Start for Murshidabad, its about 130 Kms. 3.00 Hours drive, Check in hotel, Post lunch visit Sericulture Institution with Prior appointment and have exclusive visit of Murshidabad Silk Centre and some weavers, Return to hotel by evening, Dinner & Overnight Murshidabad Hotel.

Post Breakfast we do local sightseeing of the Historical places of Murshidabad, visit most famous Terracota Temple of Barranagar across the River Ganges, then we visit Jain complex where Jain Temples are there, Katra Mosque and the famous Hazar Duari Palace (having 1000 Doors), Palace of Devi Singh, there are also few abandoned interesting Palaces we may see from outside, Back to hotel, Dinner & Overnight Murshidabad.

After breakfast about 8 AM we drive for famous Textile weaving villages of Samudragarh, 100 Kms and about 2.30 Hrs. walking through Textile village to witness how they weave Sarees, we may also visit Kalna Terracota Temples and Guptipara Temple, Most people in this area are Vaishnav by religion, drive to Krishna Nagar. Dinner & Overnight Krishna Nagar

Post breakfast Last part of our journey towards Kolkata. Visit famous "Tant" weaved Cotton Sarees Of Bengal at Shantipur, Fulia & Ranaghat, these all places will be on the way back to Kolkata and Very popular being weavers villages and bulk producer of Bengals cotton Sarees. We return Kolkata by 5.00 – 6.00 PM, Dinner & Overnight Kolkata Hotel.

Breakfast at hotel. Free till departure. In time departure transfer to Airport to catch flight for return journey.
