Sonepur Mela

Introduction : Sonepur Mela For displaying a wide variety of cattle, horses and elephants in a mela, Sonepur Mela is considered as the biggest fair in Asia. It is held on the banks of the river Ganga in Bihar. It carries a historical importance. This mela is held on the full moon day of the month of Kartik, that is, November is considered as one of the most favorable days for the Hindus.

Description : Sonepur Mela The energetic market holds within itself not only cattles but also a large variety of commodities. Besides the forest department, the people involved in logging operations buy the elephants. Apart from the selling and buying of animals the major attraction of the fair is folk shows, games and jugglery.
