Galaganatha group

Standing on t7he banks of the River Malprabha, Galangnatha Group of Temples is a famous tourist attraction in Aihole, Karnataka. It is a group of temples comprising 38 shrines intact. Unlike other temples that are in a remnant state, all temples in the group of Galaganatha are well-maintained. All temples reflect the Chalukyan style of architecture and the first temple was built under the reign of the King Pulakesin.

2)    Many temples of this groups are dedicated to the Hindu deities like Lord Mahadeva, Goddess Durga, and the sacred rivers of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.

3)    Almost all temples were built in the 8th century but there’s a temple that was constructed in the 10th century.

4)    This group of temples also came under the rule of the Mughals and due to the artistic charm, they didn’t destroy any of them. Soon, the empire was gained back by Chalukyas and further modifications were done to the sculptures and temples.

Galaganatha Group of Temples is a place that is visited on a huge scale by countless visitors. It can be visited during every season but the best time for visiting the site is when the weather is pleasant. Thus, October-February is considered as the appropriate time for marking the attendance at the place.

The entry to this place is paid for all visitors and photography is allowed.

Galaganatha group of Temples is a divine spot. All visitors are expected to maintain decorum by respecting the figurines and do not litter the place in any case. There are food-outlets nearby that serve the traditional food items and it should be tried once.

Aihole is connected only by highways to the rest of Karnataka and it can be reached by the state-run buses or a private vehicle. Traveling within the region can be done by the local buses and autos.
